$12 for a Tito's and soda. Insulting is an understatement. Heard lots of great things about this place, but I have no idea what they were talking about. The place is small, with uncomfortable chairs and way overpriced drinks. The menu is pathetically small and overpriced. Additionally they had a "security guard" at the door, which was very off putting. Never ever going to spend another penny here. Move on to places that actually care
$21 on 8 small, quarter size sushi pieces. The fish is bloody, tough, and low quality. Leaves look yellowed and inedible, plating inevitably looked empty. Taste was bland and uninspired. Service was not great, felt as if I was being rushed out despite being the only customer in the whole restaurant. Pretty restaurant though.
- A drip coffee set us back $9 - We paid $15 dollars for a side of roasted potatoes, despite the menu saying $10… we received less than one whole potato cut up into 3 pieces - An automatic 20% service was added despite the team being unorganised and rude. (Policy states automatic gratuity is only added for parties of 5+, we were a booking of 2) - For the Christmas Pre-fixe menu and one hot drink each, we paid $200+ each. - Absolutely no Christmas decorations which was poor considering all of the other diners were there for the (Christmas) Pre-fixe Perhaps this restaurant was just out of my financial league, so this review is for the average New Yorkers and tourists: save yourself the cheque, it won’t be hard to find somewhere just as good for 1/3 of the price.
10/10!!! Those were the best spring rolls I have ever had! Everything was sooooo good! The service was great, reasonable prices! I loved it and would definitely go again if I was in the area! I will likely crave this place once I get back to NYC.
11/10. For real. Fried fish was awesome and huge portion. Wings were massive and perfectly cooked.
A Hong Kong style restaurant off the heavily beaten path that is Mott Street, Joys’ Cafe caught my eye from the first time I’d walked past it. The exterior gives off a very cozy and inviting vibe, and after passing it made it a point to return and see what the inside had to offer. We usually start with an appetizer, but this place didn’t seem to have to have an expansive offering, although that can also be due to them having only opened up a few weeks ago. We opted for the vegetable spring rolls, which were paired with what tasted like a ginger sweet and sour sauce. The rolls tasted fresh, although they did seem like your typical spring roll, which is by no means a bad thing. After receiving and tasting my entree which was the Singapore chow mei fun, I have to say it was one of the best dishes I’ve had in Chinatown up to this point. There was a tremendous amount of flavor that was perfectly balanced, a sort of curry-like taste on first bite but after the rest of the ingredients come through (such as the egg, char siu, and bean sprouts to name a few), everything seemed to mesh beautifully. The portions were more than enough to fill a hungry belly too, but even it’d be hard to want to leave anything on the plate. As for the rice w/shrimp & egg, we were very pleased at the amount of shrimp that was in the dish. The eggs might not be for everyone as they were definitely on the runnier side, so keep that in mind if you plan on ordering, but we found them to be great and well seasoned throughout. Another great Chinatown find that I’m sure will find its crowd in time, try to grab a seat here for a meal before you can’t!
!! BIG SCAM !! They will charge you 65 dollars for 2 cocktails and later end up with saying that there is a small sign saying tips are needed to pay. DONT GO IN HERE!!!
$ 9.99 for 5 cheese sticks tasted like they were frozen. We went with a groupon and were treated second class. Was told the Groupon would only cover dinner items ( Groupon said anything on the menu ) Would not give us the salads that came with the dinner items. And the sauces were not as good a Olive Garden and I don't consider Olive Garden a good example of Italian food. The back room was much better looking than the garish front. So, I thought the value was poor, the service somewhat hostile and the food mediocre. Would never go back
- You must pay for soda refill $3 each small glas - Take themselves 18% tip - Sorry, but this is Cheeky
Had a dinner in Delmonicos for New Year's Eve with my wife. I'd heard great things and the food did not disappoint. One of the best steaks I've had. It was expensive, which I expected and was happy to pay. The only thing is that the waiters seemed to be very amateur. They mixed up my dessert and our wine orders, spilled half a glass of champagne all over our table when trying to refill a glass, and routinely yanked away our plates as soon as they thought we had finished (even if we were still chewing!). None of this was a deal breaker but I was a bit peeved when they automatically added 20% service to our bill, given the sup par service we received.
Stepping into the restaurant, I felt like I was transported to old Italy - groin vaulted ceilings, opera music in the background, Italian-speaking (and singing) staff. USD79 for a 3-course prix fixe menu was pretty good value for money, considering the standard of food, size of servings and the inclusion of amuse bouche and palate clesnser. I would describe everything that was served as "good old Italian fare". For example, if you ordered the pappardelle bolognese (primi), you would get fresh and unadulterated pasta that represent traditional excellence. The highlight for me though, must have been the veal chop (piatti principale), which was most flavourful.
Even though I wrote our food was fair, don't let that scare you off because my wife & I went there with 3 other couples and their food was terrific. My wife and I, and one other person ordered the Stir fry. My wife & I ordered it with the chicken, and our friend ordered it with shrimp. Our chicken was very hard and dry and the veggies that came with it were straight out of a La Choy can. Not good at all. It came on a bed of rice which was the best part of the meal. Our friends shrimp was ok, a bit small but tasty. She said the greens were terrible and didn't eat most of them. The other couples ordered the Short ribs and were terrific. Others ordered the fish fry and was also great. One person ordered the surf N turf and it was excellent as well. The wine and beer selection was also very good and the prices were fair. We'd probably go back and try again but will order something else, like one of the speciality pizzas that they are known for. We just figured we'd try something new and it didn't work out this time. The service was very good. The layout was a bit funky, but we were seated in a little cuddy off the main room which was good because some of the ladies got a bit loud after a couple glasses of wine.

Tourist trap! Save your money, coming from a real Italian. Wasted $100 for 2 people. Subpar food and over priced. Red sauce is thin and watery and lacks flavor. 100% would never return. Olive Garden is more authentic than this place.

Great portions. We got the macho nachos and the birria was perfect. Smart with the plating since every tortilla chip has a little bit of everything

This place was TERRIBLE! Extremely loud with the different singers walking from table to table begging for money. We had not been seated for 5 minutes before (1) singer started walking around with the tip bucket. The food is way overpriced, with (1) hamburger costing $26.75. They threw confetti from the top floor, which landed in our drinks and food. It was also dirty inside, and the food tasted terrible and cold! Way overpriced, Extremely Loud, Terrible Food! NOT worth the price! My kids could not wait to leave!

We visited on our recent trip to the city from the UK. Carmines had been recommended so I had booked a table. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful and recommended dishes and portion sizes - which were very large!! The ambience was buzzy and busy but good fun. Lots of people watching. Our meals were super tasty as were the cocktails! The tiramisu was to die for! My husband told them it was a birthday and they made a big fuss which was very sweet. We would definitely return. It’s quite an experience and super food.
