Atmosphere review insights for Porto, Portugal, Restaurants

A friend recommended this restaurant to us. We had 11 courses. Every single course was sensational. The wine were great. The homemade shots from the grandmother were great! But even better was the atmosphere in the restaurant. The waiters have spread such a great mood. The whole restaurant with all the guests became friends at the ed and celebrated together. We would come back anytime. In addition, it is an amazing value for that price... Update: Jan 30, 2026 Five years ago, this restaurant was something truly special for me: a nearly ten-course menu with wine pairing and shots between courses, fantastic atmosphere, warm service, and the whole thing for around 80 € including tip for two people. This time, I returned with high hopes and was unfortunately disappointed—for about five courses without wine pairing and only two shots, I paid more than double, some dishes were overly salty and overall poorly seasoned. The plates felt interchangeable, lacking any distinct signature or recognition value, more like standard 08/15 fare you can get around the corner in similar or even better quality. The service is still friendly and attentive, but the unique party vibe from back then—that perfect blend of great food, excellent service, music, and atmosphere—is gone. Overall, the price-performance ratio no longer adds up for me, so I'm revising my original 5-star rating to about 2.5 out of 5.

A strange place for Porto - it “feels” Russian in terms of decor, and didn’t seem to be anything like the google information. It’s fine, but it’s a restaurant not a bar, it’s fine dining not tapas, so didn’t match what we thought we were going to get. Expensive wine, good food (not great), very attentive service, but it isn’t a casual dining place. If you want to pay then no worries, it’s fine, but we were unpleasantly surprised FYI…

Fantastic food! One of the nicest curries we've ever had. Can't fault it, only marked down Atmosphere as we were the only ones in on a Monday night. Would definitely come again.

01-06-2025: 5 stars for the food and service, but honestly only 1 star for the ambiance 😉. You think you’ve booked a romantic evening for two run by some young ladies; upon arrival, it’s their father Fernando at the door, asking about where we’re from and what we’re doing there. We almost walked away, but hey, we were hungry 😉 Ordered food with a glass of wine—pastry, salmon, and pasta (delicious!). That man kept coming to top up our glasses (which we liked!, he does not like empty glasses). As soon as new guests arrived, we instantly knew their nationality, and complete strangers were seated together. Then we were practically forced to drink cold port (delicious) and shots, only to be sent out of the restaurant and taken—more or less by force—to a bar along with some (very friendly) guests, where we enjoyed amazing lemon sangria. Tipsy, we made our way back home, skipping the karaoke bar. So actually, the ambiance deserves 10 stars—if you love lots of wine and outgoing, fun people who are all open to a good conversation in this cozy little restaurant! A top night, straight onto the plane with a hangover—thanks to Fernando ❤️

The cod was good, well prepared, and this is clearly the strength of the house. The staff is friendly, even if the welcome is a little rustic — you feel the place turns out a lot with a tourist clientele, which takes away some authentic warmth. As for comfort, you have to know what to expect: the tables along the wall are really tight, the furniture is fixed and you literally end up back to back with the table neighbors. Not ideal for an intimate evening or if you are not of thin constitution. The price of €24 for cod is a bit high considering the service and the rather sketchy setting — we are clearly on a tourist pricing. In summary: the kitchen is worth a visit, but we would have liked more comfort and a bit more honest value for money. To book for a quick stopover rather than a casual meal.

A nicely located and decorated restaurant to have overpriced average food. An attentive service yet a very bad Maître in a snob atmosphere make not want to come back.

we went there today ,and the overall experience was terrible.the worst we can experience, the atmosphere was too suffocating there was no fresh air in the restaurant ,we ordered chicken kadai and tandoori roti , in the sabji chicken were just thrown without even tossing it in a Malala’s,there were raw tomato’s and capsicum , it was giving the pav-bhaji feel with raw vegetables and for this they charged too much.I strongly recommend not to visit this restaurant.
