$69 for a 4-ounce steak: minuscule portion, cooked incorrectly twice. 3 fries: a joke. Asked for rare, received well-done, then replaced with an even smaller... and even more overcooked piece! The service is excellent and does its best, but the kitchen is inconsistent and could benefit from better supervision by their executive chef.
- Runny egg whites, - toast that is barely toasted, - cold potatoes. All this for such increased prices? Not worth it anymore. I've been coming here for many years, but a recent subtantial drop in food quality will lead me elsewhere.
1 star for poorly representing Cantonese and Szechuan culture. It's not good. I've eaten these dishes all my life this place is expensive, and the dishes have no flavor. Claypot rice is supposed to be super fragrant, this claypot rice is somehow both dry and they went light on the flavor they made it "north american". Hainese chicken rice massive disappointment. Rice not made properly, they didn't put the time in. It's supposed to be glistening with oil, every bite is supposed to literally glide, this rice is tough and fried (what the???), the chicken is supposed to be super super soft but theirs is tough. It's a dish that if properly done, is done in three different steps and each step takes half a day to do. They slacked and took a lot of shortcuts, not worth trying.
**Review: Souvlaki Bar at Montreal's Grand Central - Chicken Souvlaki Dinner** I recently picked up a Chicken Souvlaki Dinner from Souvlaki Bar at Montreal's Grand Central, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was ready right on time, which was great as I was on a tight schedule. The chicken was perfectly grilled—tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. It had that classic charred flavor that you crave from a good souvlaki. The accompanying sides were equally satisfying. The rice was fluffy and well-seasoned, complementing the chicken beautifully, while the Greek salad was fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of dressing. The tzatziki sauce was a standout, creamy with a nice garlicky kick that tied everything together. The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied without feeling overstuffed. It’s clear that Souvlaki Bar takes pride in their ingredients and preparation, making it a solid go-to for a quick, flavorful meal. Whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go or looking for a tasty dinner option, the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner is definitely worth trying.
110% customer service oriented, fair prices and delicious, hot, fresh food. A great find! We ordered 4 meals and 2x dumplings. As newbies cashier was very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing 4 different ones to try. We ordered to go and when we got home saw one of the orders had sauce which we asked for on the side as one of our kids had food aversions and when we called restaurant they offered right away to make anew order and came themselves to deliver it! We will for sure be returning. Great job all around
3.5 stars. The portion was generous, I had the salmon and tuna poke bowl for $24 taxes included. The service was instant since they prepare the dishes in advance. The fish was fresh, however I found it lacking, the fish portion was small. There was a bit too much lettuce for my taste, like it was a salad. It lacked sauce in my opinion.
If I could rate this restaurant it would be a big fat 0. We were the only people in this establishment. That should have been our first clue to run!! We had an extremely long wait for our food. The pizza came out soggy and wet. My club sandwich was ice cold, the chicken was ice cold, the bacon had hardened grease on it, toast was cold, my daughters spaghetti was also COLD!! The lasagna was luke warm and bland. We complained to the waiter who said he would warm it up.. Ummm we are the only customers here why should ANY of it be cold if it just came from the kitchen??? I told them they should at least comp my sandwich which i only managed to eat a 1/4 of. Left the rest. It was awful! The waiter told me i should just go eat at McDonalds.. I probably should have at least my food would have been warm!! The wait staff was beyond rude!! Save your money and do not eat here. Overpriced and undercooked.. Or should i say underheated!! DO NOT.... I REPEAT DO NOT EAT HERE. my worst Montreal experience so far! The servers even run out of the restaurant to try and lure customers in when they stop to look at the menu outside. The guy tried to justify why the restaurant was empty by saying its the time if year. Well i guess bcuz the locals already know to STAY FAR AWAY.. So disgusted by this place!!!
$200.00 for 2 people, expensive for chewy steak that kept sticking to the grill. Not impressed, will not be back
... but very small portions! Felt overpriced when I left hungry. But, Hey! Food was excellent, service was great, place was nice. So still a 4 stars :)
Really lovely menu selections, good prices, nice environment. All the food was fresh and delicious. Tucked away in the McGill University neighbourhood and very popular. Good for singles, couples and small groups.
My wife and I enjoyed our lunch here. While many people were having the lunch special talis which did look quite nice we opted for ordering off the main menu. We were so satisfied that we came back for lunch our last day in Montréal. The bread was excellent as was the chicken tiki masala and Saag dishes. We also had biriyani which was good. The place is small and does get packed.
!!!After asking at my hotel a restaurant that had some spicy food I was proposed to go to the taradito restaurant. It was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is nice, cosy and fashioned. The waiters nice and smily. The service at level expected with the atmosphere. Asked for Zoe :).. like all I'm sure she listens to your wishes and helps greatly in the choices. I had chosen dishes from comments. On the net but finally she convinced me for others... Great choice! The muscles were spicy perfectly, the duck simple and perfectly spicy. That convinced me to get another one, the octopus.. but too much fusioned... We lost the taste of the seafood. I would suggest some dish were the taste of the actual aliment is great! Conclusion: go for it.. yes it can be a bit expensive but a great experience

Legit food. Seriously satisfying monstrosity of a burger (see picture). Wen there yesterday for the first time - I'll most likely return if I find myself being hungry in that part of town. Service could have been quicker. We expect fast food to be.... you know....fast. That said, the person who served was friendly and good vibes. 30 bucks for a burger with some onion rings and a can of fizzy water is a little pricey for what it was, but this is downtown Montreal, whadyagonnado. I still recommend it.

Good halal Shawerma. Good price.

First point they are very reactive on glasses of water, they always come to fill you. Very humble, discreet and fast service. At the level of food 77 kind of pizza, which makes the thing folds complicated than ordering in a lunch restaurant. The food is good but without more however the price is very reasonable for the cartier. Cons the tables are very small and stick it lacks space.

Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had… service was great, we sat at the bar. The bartender was really helpful and attentive and chatted with us a bit. She also made a great Vesper martini. The whole meal was perfect, oysters, escargot, wine recommendations… I got the lobster and he got the rabbit. Portions are generous. And yes, it’s expensive but the food is all worth it. The only negative thing I could say is that the space is a bit cramped, but not much can be done about that in a small space. Can’t wait to go again someday
