A Delicious Detour at Chennai Express** Ambiance: Sharing a space with other restaurants means seating is more "musical chairs" than fine dining Parking? Forget about it, it's a treasure hunt. But hey, who needs ambience when you have dosas this good? Food: Forget your fancy tablecloths, Chennai Express is all about the taste. Their dosas are the real deal - the crispiest, most flavorful I've had in Montreal in ages. The sambhar and coconut chutney are the perfect sidekicks to this South Indian symphony. Service: Be prepared for a wait - it's a one-man show here! But the dude taking orders, prepping food, and managing everything else is a saint. Super polite and calm, even with the pressure on. Overall: It's a culinary pit stop with a few bumps along the road. But if you're craving a delicious and authentic dosa experience, Chennai Express is worth the wait (and the parking hunt). Just don't forget your patience!
Be warned they don’t accept cash and it’s not as good as the original omnivore locations
Bland food…fine server…chaotic atmosphere…really just a factory for hockey fans going to the Habs game!! Right off the start, the host made us want to leave, but our bar/server was excellent and made the chaos less abrasive. The food was tasteless and without joy, yet was served quickly (theme of the place), and the noise level was sky high. Not a place I would visit again…and the mgr/host needs a lesson in empathy!!
4 of us arrived this morning for breakfast. Every one of us really enjoyed our meals and thought the best breakfasts would could ever remember having?! From the breakfast club to the avacado /chicken and eggs, absolutely delicious! Would recommend for anyone in the downtown Montreal area!
A Montréal restaurant with unbeatable views and amazing service! If you are looking for the perfect Saturday night spot in Montréal, then Cappello is a must-visit. My friends and I had an incredible experience that balanced a high-end atmosphere with truly warm hospitality. The Atmosphere & View: The first thing you’ll notice is the stunning panoramic view of the city. Whether you’re seated by the window or grabbing a drink at the bar, the vibe is sophisticated yet lively. It’s easily one of the best atmospheres in the city for a night out! The Food & Drinks: We explored a variety of the menu, and nothing disappointed: • The Pasta: We tried both the Gnocchi (so pillow-soft!) and the Spaghetti. Both were cooked to perfection. • Chicken Parm: Crispy, flavorful, and a total crowd-pleaser. • The Standout: They served what I can confidently say is the best Tiramisu I’ve had in this city (so far). You cannot leave without ordering it! • Cocktails/Mocktails: The drink menu is creative and beautifully presented. Amazing Service! A massive shoutout to our waiter, Alessandro. He was the highlight of our evening! He was extremely professional and kind. One of my friends doesn’t eat pork or anything cooked with alcohol, and Alessandro went above and beyond to accommodate her, offering thoughtful options and ensuring she had a great meal. While the service was a bit slow due to the Saturday rush, the staff more than made up for it with their incredible hospitality. It’s rare to find a place that cares this much about the guest experience. Final Verdict: a solid 9/10. We’ll absolutely be coming back. If you’re a local Montrealer or just visiting, please put this restaurant on your list!
A great pub to have a pint and some great food. Came twice during my trip in Montreal. Great atmosphere and great service.
A pretentious steakhouse with average food and unfriendly service. The rib eye steak was very basic and the grilled chicken was bad and cold. The French onion soup was wonderful. All in all, skip this place! There are far better restaurants around this neighborhood.
A rather surprisingly creative table but on a gastronomic level, it is depressingly poor! The duck breast was served cold and was as hard as a boot sole; only protein intake from a six-course meal. For the rest, Lilliputian portions: a few leaves or pieces of vegetables to feed the children. A meal accompanied by the deafening atmosphere of a low-end bistro, with small tables and uncomfortable chairs. The service was cadaverously slow. Went in at 7:30 p.m., we left at 11:00 p.m. all sore. In short, it's extremely expensive for what it is.
Actually the worst... I was so excited for this brunch as I am VERY obsessed with brunch. I have been to several brunch places in my area that are by far better than this place. "Cool" ambiance clearly over hyped. I don't go to restaurants for the mood but the food. My food came cold, the service was absent. My cappuccino was the worst cappuccino I have had in Canada so far. So expensive for what the food was, i had classic eggs, potatoes and pancake. It was actually the worst I've had, out of all the other places I've tried. I'm so disappointed in this place I've taken the time to write this review. I can't believe people actually line up for hours on the weekend to eat here.
Great food! Great service - Thank you Alex! We didn’t have a reservation but was fortunate enough to get a seat at a high top table shared by others. Food was excellent especially the Jackfruit Burger. Decor and atmosphere awesome! Will definitely go again!
Au Petit Extra was a short Uber ride (about 2.5 km) from our Flipkey apartment at 699 Rue St Maurice in Old Montreal. It had a lively bistro atmosphere, widely spaced tables, and a very friendly staff. Our waitress was happy to chat with us in French or English and and she was very knowledgeable. The food was very good, possibly not as refined as the Club Chasse et Peche , but lower in price. They had a very complete wine list and there were recommendations for every menu item.
Don't know why this place is not packed but grateful as we have had the best food such a relaxed atmosphere. So glad we ended up in a different hotel and had to Find somewhere else to eat. Tiny bruschetta and mozza/ marina breads plus warm buns with butter and oil and balsamic vinegar to start a wonderful caprese salad. The lasagna and the veal Parmesan were so flavorful and tender. The attention to detail encompassing the extra bread and oil to the huge bowl of mixed nuts to crack brought to the table after the main was incredible. We are so glad we went inside thinking we could go upstairs on the terrace to dine. Nothing outside could match the intimate quiet experience of this old world charm dining. We'll be back. Xo

I was staying in the hotel and visited Henri Brasserie Française and was disappointed with the seating. The female host placed me at a table directly beside the kitchen door and the waiters’ preparation station, despite multiple empty tables at the entrance. I had intended to order a full meal, but the location was uncomfortable due to constant staff traffic and noise. It did not feel appropriate for a proper dining experience, especially when more suitable tables were visibly unoccupied. At the very least, I wish I had been offered a choice of seating. Because of this, I ended up only ordering appetizers and leaving earlier than planned. That said, the French soup was very good, and the waiter was exceptionally kind and attentive. I hope the restaurant improves how guests are seated, particularly when there is clear availability elsewhere.

Had such a great St. Paddy’s celebration here! 🍀 We came with a table of 10 and everything was fantastic — delicious food, great drinks, and amazing service even though it was busy. The atmosphere was fun and lively, making it the perfect spot to celebrate. Can’t wait to come back! 🍻

Food subpar..very noisy atmosphere. . Server was dashing about frantically yet didn't check on us to see if our dinners were okay. He hovered while presenting the bill and took the time then to point out the various tip options. Unprofessional and a a sad way to end the dining experience. Mostly though, the pasta dishes weren't tasty.
