How was this calculated?
For Los Angeles hotels, we rank eligible listing ratings and review counts with equal weight per listing; see the methodology. Methodology
Methodology
Full history remains the main view. These are collected platform listings, not a census or matched unique businesses. Each listing has equal weight; p10, p25, median, p75 and p90 use the nearest-rank method. A percentile means strictly below your value; ties are excluded. Median intervals require at least six listings and use distribution-free 95% binomial order statistics, conditional on the collected listings, and do not measure collection bias. Missing ratings or review counts, disabled listings and misclassified Tripadvisor listings are excluded. A page needs at least 30 eligible listings on each platform and 1,000 analyzed article reviews. The recent comparison needs 30 listings per platform and 1,000 dated analyzed reviews in the last 24 months; it cannot establish a change in the same businesses.
