Air conditioners with a bad smell, broken toilets, staff who rudely barge into the room, and dirty surrounding area full of homeless people

Almost the worst experience of any hotel I have ever stayed in. After hours of negotiation with the hotel's general manager, he finally agreed to allow me to pay for the one night and leave without further charges. Clearly, we won't be back. The room was not clean, the closet didn't have sufficient hangers, there was only 1 set of bath towels (although to be fair, the night manager did bring me more once I asked for them). The gym was a joke, small, cramped broken equipment and no scale. The wifi was speed and free. and the waffle maker worked well for my morning coffee. Hilton corporate by the way, was no help in resolving the situation, so I'll be thinking long and hard if I ever stay in a Hilton property again.

2 guys of the staff are very friendly and welcoming: the one when we arrived and the one working on evening/night time! (An other one not particularly) We had private bathroom & toilets eventhough outside of the room (just in front!) Good location by the way!

A relatively small hotel in the union square area that is full with the biggest and most fancy hotels. It resembles a boutique hotel. The location is the best possible if you rely on public transportation. All the types are within 3 minute walk: buses, streetcars, metro lines, BART, the cable cars. The staff is professional and helpful, the rooms in very good condition

After reading all the reviews, I was honestly scared to stay at this hotel. They made check-in sound horrible and customer service seem terrible. I was so close to canceling and just losing my money to book somewhere else. But my friend and I decided to at least stop by, check out the area, and see for ourselves before making that decision. I’m someone who usually only stays at Marriott and Hilton properties, and I’m very picky about where I stay. With that being said, this hotel was not bad at all. In fact, I would have to disagree with many of the negative reviews. Our check-in and checkout experience were both great. Ben checked us in and was so friendly and welcoming. Later, when we went downstairs to pick up our Uber Eats order, we met another staff member named Z (we told him his nickname for us is “Zeke”). He was such a great worker — very friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. We ended up having a really nice conversation with him while waiting for our food, with lots of laughs. It made the stay feel even more welcoming. There was security on-site all night long. You need your room key just to enter the building, and there was security both inside and outside, which made us feel safe. Yes, there was some sand on the carpet near the elevators, but with thousands of guests coming through, that’s to be expected. All of the elevators were working, which was a plus. There isn’t a bar on-site, but that wasn’t a big deal for us. The rooms were perfectly fine. The beds are a little lower to the ground, but they were comfortable. I actually brought my own cleaning supplies and wiped everything down before unpacking, and I was very surprised at how clean everything was. My Clorox wipes came up clean — there was no dirt at all. Overall, our stay was much better than expected. The hotel felt safe, clean, and welcoming. I’m really glad we decided to give it a chance instead of just going by the reviews.

"mini bar" was missing a milky way when i arrived; despite my having immediately alerted hotel staff upon my discovery of said missing milky way, I nevertheless discovered a $3.25 charge tacked sneakily onto my bill! room wasn't clean enough, the duvet needed to be removed from service because of staining; nothing impressive here except for the photographer's ability to make dingy and lower than expected ceiling feel bright and airy! . when i checked in (for a single night stay), i requested a late checkout. the hotel obliged, although i don't understand why the guest after me in the queue was told 1230 while i was told 12 was the latest possible time available. besides this, the staff were all quite friendly and down to earth. i had an incredibly disappointing experience with the hotel manager. Under-confident as the leader of a workplace, the manager here claims their authority over others by putting them down. He was immature, disrespectful, expressed a contempt for guests as burdens, and called me names while attempting to save face while reversing a surcharge on my bill despite his initial insistence that he would not. Onlooking staff remained courteous but quiet, not wanting to get dragged into the manager's fit of frustration. I made a valid request, was right to have done so, and was met with the manager's attempt to steamroll me while making false/unfounded claims regarding my moral fibre. The hotel didn't need 3 people working, anyhow. I would fire the manager and promote the girl who checked me, since she demonstrated good understanding of hotel operations and intuitive understanding of guest requests. If you are looking for a bed and a shower and single serve pumpkin pie flavor coffeemate creamers and you want a cheap room with bad natural light, then this is your place! tldr; half star for the decent cable channel selection (which includes SHOWTIME~!) gets rounded up to one star.

$100+/night for Union Square location, clean room, working bathroom, working Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and round-the-clock tea/coffee/water! Apart from the loud heating pipes in the room, it really did its job for my 5D/4N stay in San Francisco. Thank You to the gentleman at the reception who was kind enough to offer us takeaways upon our early check-out at 5+am. I’ll be back!

$421 a night buys you at Handlery hotel in San Francisco a room with no view, window looks into others rooms and opens 2 inches. Bed had bloody stained sheets, air conditioner didn't work and charged $15 for snack pack which contains $3 worth of water and candy. Disappointed with family run hotel, Handlery hotel is a terrible stay in San Francisco! And, they don't care.

I really liked this hotel. Received a warm welcome and had a heated pool right outside my door. Comp bottle of California wine. Groovy robes. Easy wifi. Terrible location (someone was arrested in the street as we left, but Ubers are plentiful. Just use your brain.

- nice, modern hotel (Adults only) in a pleasant size - good rooms with air conditioning, rain shower, fridge and safe (a few minor improvements/repairs needed) - the main restaurant has a decent breakfast buffet and in the evening a buffet with salads, main courses and desserts; especially the salad and dessert buffet are top - the restaurant Aura is excellent and highly recommended (with half board 20% discount, but a few levels higher than the main restaurant) - In the bar there are good cocktails and some entertainment (singers or DJs) - beautiful beach with comfortable loungers and good service; per person or lounger an amount of € 7 will be charged, but this will not apply if food/drink is consumed (at least in the same amount) - Sandy beach, but the first few meters in the sea with stones (water shoes recommended) - good location; about 35 min from the old town and the famous lighthouse (thus outside the city bustle)

Really the only issue we had was only rooms on the inside of the building had AC so we had our windows open and it was loud all night.

Traveling musicians and we needed a place to stay. MCSF is a great go to for a work weekend playing shows in SF. Close by all night parking garage next door. We booked the stay and play package which offers 50 percent off the practice room rate. The hotel reservation system is easier to connect via online and email reply is quick. Also you can check in and check out online too. The hotel is upstairs..literally up stairs get ready to haul all your stuff up. All the rooms are inspired by musicians and the hallways are a virtual tour of great musicians. It's a shared bathroom situation for the most part there are a couple of rooms that have private. We had a late check in and we just told the front desk we were going to be late they were super cool about it. The room "Stevie Nicks" was standard came with 2 towels, a couple of hangers in the closet, tv, and mini soap, and an amp in the room with a cord which was cool. Next to the shared bathroom. It was a bit noisy at certain times but to be expected. One of the shared bathroom doors lock was preventing a smooth closure so it was a lot of slamming and one of the showers handle was broken so turning the shower on and off was wonky they should probably replace the handle. The practice room was nice it was a small room with a 5150 guitar amp and and orange bass amp, we borrowed a couple mics from the front desk. Plus it came with a fan. Very clean and updated. The practice space bathrooms were very nice. The bummer was that their onsite coffee bar was closed we were told they ran out of coffee but were told that we could use the morning coffee offering upstairs in the hotel which we saw on the way out it was a bit confusing because the disposable cups are located in the lounge room separate from the coffee we found that out from the front desk. We had a successful overnight and definitely like that this is a great resource. Great price point for the working musician.

We chose this hotel because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor. The food rating was 4.5, I believe. The buffet is very repetitive. Lots of beautiful looking desserts, but they are dry and tasteless. Breads are dry and tasteless. Food choices were repetitive beyond belief. Coffee is undrinkable. I am not a picky person, but this was bad. They do not list any allergens for their food in the buffet, I have been to other hotels in Punta Cana, Mexico and Jamaica and ALL list their allergens. I have dairy related IBS, and Shell Fish allergies. Terrible having to guess what to eat every day and finding out hours later that I guessed wrong. Again. Elevator for our building did not work for 5 days. Management did not respond for 2 days to my request, and did not move us! I am a senior with arthritis in my knees. This was painful and not fun. Two days with no clean towels, only if you called after 4 to ask where they were! The poolside entertainment is boring. The staff are polite, but there is just something missing. Energy, enthusiasm? You don't get a sense of their culture in the people or in their food, everything is bland. Buffet nights had a couple of different things on two occations, but other then that they change the theme, but not the food. Disappointing. Glad to be home. Won't be going back. Also, this was an expensive hotel for what I got.

This hotel is a top of the line premium hotel experience. The rooms are perfectly sized and laid out. The design is luxurious and tasteful. All of the interior furnishings and finishes are top quality. The paint lines are even and smooth. The wall paper is high quality and flawlessly installed. Our room on the 21st floor had a city and bay view that was inspiring. The soundproofing from outside was complete. No sound from other rooms, not even water running. The heating/air conditioning was silent and efficient. The thermostat delivered heat or cold to achieve the desired temp in a matter of minutes. Service in this hotel is perfect! Every request was immediately handled. Luggage, extra towels and service requests arrived literally in several minutes from request. Room upgrade was offered without request. Every employee was cheerful, polite and had no attitude. This hotel rivals the top hotels in New York. It is a must have experience on any trip to San Francisco. You will not be sorry!
