A lot of people are complaining about the stains on the carpet but it isn't a huge deal. I'd recommend the management invest in cleaning the carpets since that seems to be the most common compliant. The other thing is the carpets are a light color such makes it more obvious compared to other hotels. Also the wifi is pretty spotty, the other person staying with me also had the same issue. Staff and service was friendly and nice. The only thing is the location is in a pretty sketchy area, lots of homeless. You can't blame the hotel though, if you want a reasonably priced hotel in downtown San Francisco, it's simply the reality you're going to be surrounded by homeless. The rest of San Francisco was really beautiful so it balances out.
Bad neighbourhood by Civic Centre. Lots of street people. Poorly insulated walls and windows let a lot of noise in. WiFi didn't work.
Be ready to experience some funny people as the hotel is literally a crack house and the walls are so thin you can hear everything in you’re vicinity. The TV was stuck on one channel and the WiFi is Extremely slow but this doesn’t matter because you can have hours of entertainment observing crackheads in their daily life. From our next door neighbor heroin addict trying to start interesting conversations with us, to the little boy peeing out of the window across from us because he is too scared to go out in the hallway, the Kailash hotel provided a great experience. The kailash has more great upsides too, I saw more of the city because I didn’t want to spend time in the hotel room, and the early bird crackheads will wake you up at a perfect time.
All electronic access. No smart phone? No luck. Decent internet speed. Ask for a room away from the street. Lots of services nearby!
Almost the worst experience of any hotel I have ever stayed in. After hours of negotiation with the hotel's general manager, he finally agreed to allow me to pay for the one night and leave without further charges. Clearly, we won't be back. The room was not clean, the closet didn't have sufficient hangers, there was only 1 set of bath towels (although to be fair, the night manager did bring me more once I asked for them). The gym was a joke, small, cramped broken equipment and no scale. The wifi was speed and free. and the waffle maker worked well for my morning coffee. Hilton corporate by the way, was no help in resolving the situation, so I'll be thinking long and hard if I ever stay in a Hilton property again.
Excellent, relative to this price point in San Francisco. Clean rooms and reliable wifi for remote working. Front desk personnel are super considerate and attentive. Location is central and convenient wherever you need to go in the city. Worth being aware that bathrooms are shared, housekeeping is by request only, and the front desk is only open for a few hours a day. But as an affordable home base for a visit to the city this place is hard to beat.
-They were ready to let me sleep on the street because they don’t accept cash. I offered to pay immediately and settle by card within a couple of hours- the manager refused. -Left stranded in the lobby for 3 hours until I could figure out this with a family member who lives in a different timezone, evening plans ruined. -Nowhere on their website does it say cash payments aren’t accepted. -Sent a complaint 4 days ago -still no response. -Towels offered are stained -Weeks after booking, noticed my room rate dropped by 40%! I asked if their current 15% Fall discount could at least be applied to my room- refused after 10 days of silence. -You must check in before 5 PM or go to their “sister company.” There is NO front desk from 5 PM to 9 AM. -They hand you the building key- feels more like an expensive Airbnb than a hotel. -Wi-Fi code missing from the room -Breakfast was way below average. -Skittles, their cat, is overweight and over-grooming Bottom line: A beautiful hotel needs more than charm- it needs real service. The front desk staff was nice but that obviously isn't enough. Sadly, this place seems to rely on its old reputation rather than delivering genuine hospitality.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. WiFi wasn’t working and front desk said a refund would be issued so I left within 15 mins and booked another hotel. Manager is now claiming this didn’t happen and denying refund. Stated he doesn’t care what his customers think and because his employee didn’t call him it doesn’t count. Upon inquiring how that is my fault and showing him paper written by his employee he said no refund and feel free to review him. So here is that review. If you care about having WiFi or spending your money with reasonable people, this isn’t the spot for you.
After taxes, I paid over $280/night to stay here due to a limited work travel budget. I knew it was bad when I checked in to the bare bones lobby and asked the front desk host if there would be a coffee maker or water kettle in my room. She smiled and responded, "No, the rooms just have the basic hotel amenities like towels, iron, ironing board. Only motels provide things like kettles or coffee makers, not hotels!" Ummm, are you trying to tell me that $280/night doesn't warrant a basic amenity like a coffee maker or water kettle and that "hotels" like the W or Westin don't offer "motel" amenities like these?! The elevator is total crap - like the old ones that are rickety and you have to pull the door lever to get it moving. Several people said it was too heavy and hurt their hands. The rooms are meant to be artistic and painted by different artists, but they felt like single-room occupancy living, or poor Tenderloin apartments that just have clean linens. Some of the "art" just looks like horrible spray painting. As other reviewers have said, there is zero ventiliation - no AC, no fan, nothing at all to control the temperature of your room other than a heater or opening your really old windows. The lighting was extremely poor - only dim overhead lighting and not even side table lights for the bed. The bathroom sink was old and horrendous - the hot water tap is on the left and the cold water tap is on the right -- you either get scalding hot or super cold water - no in between option. The "continental breakfast" that is free of charge is also total garbage - the most basic and nearly inedible bread, with terrible coffee and just a hot water kettle. It's actually pretty insulting. It was honestly worse than providing nothing at all. When I asked the front desk host where the plastic forks were (they had only plastic spoons and knives out), instead of replenishing the plastic forks in the basket for everyone, he went to the back and just handed me two. What about everyone else and doing your basic job? Lastly, even the complimentary Wi-Fi wasn't working properly, as it constantly went in and out and had slow speeds. I'd never recommend this place to anyone. At $200-300/night, this is NOT a budget hotel or even a hotel for that matter. It's a glorified and grossly over priced hostel. The only thing going for it is its location, but if you are looking for that, there are plenty of hotels nearby that will be better for you to spend your hard earned cash in.
I really liked this hotel. Received a warm welcome and had a heated pool right outside my door. Comp bottle of California wine. Groovy robes. Easy wifi. Terrible location (someone was arrested in the street as we left, but Ubers are plentiful. Just use your brain.
$100+/night for Union Square location, clean room, working bathroom, working Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and round-the-clock tea/coffee/water! Apart from the loud heating pipes in the room, it really did its job for my 5D/4N stay in San Francisco. Thank You to the gentleman at the reception who was kind enough to offer us takeaways upon our early check-out at 5+am. I’ll be back!

I stayed here the other day. The location is near the Tenderloin, which is the worst neighborhood in San Francisco. Not knowing this, I arrived at the hotel by passing through streets where homeless people, drug addicts, dealers, and gangs hang out. The room's wifi was unstable, and the walls are so thin that you can hear everything from the hallway. Although it says breakfast is included, there were only cinnamon rolls and apples available, and there was no breakfast area. This is not a place for tourists, especially Japanese people, to stay. It's definitely not a 4-star hotel; it doesn't meet the requirements.

Stayed at the Warwick for one night after seeing a show at the Orpheum and it was a great experience! Rooms are clean, spacious and decorated well. The hotel is connected to a great restaurant called Bota which has a very friendly server and chef. Special shoutout to the Warwick’s front desk manager, Nestor, who provided me a place to take work calls after checking out!

This hotel is suboptimal and isn’t worth the money. There is no coffee or tea in the room. There is no fridge. WIFI just about works, the rooms are dated. The hotel itself self is tired and needs to a lot of work to bring up to date. If you think you are booking a luxury hotel or at least something of an equivalent beware this hotel isn’t it. Also, be advised that there is a destination tax in which you get the smallest bottle of water I ever seen. WIFI and 10 dollars of a breakfast should you wish to dine in the hotel, whole thing is a joke!! In summary extremely disappointed.

GREAT STAY AT THE HOTEL GRIFFON, Pulled up and got greeted by the best hotel front desk attendant, Juan, he immediately checked us in and helped us get sorted with parking and our room, the parking we had some trouble figuring out but we called him back at the front desk and he helped us figure out where the parking was and answered all of my questions! Next was the room, the room was a little bit smaller than we were anticipating and so we asked for a different room and Juan helped us with a much more accommodating room that we enjoyed very much! Juan, the front desk attendant, honestly made the stay so much easier for me and my girlfriend, and much better, Other than that, the services were amazing! Free water bottle refill stations, the hotel is connected to a restaurant/bar and the staff was very very nice, Overall great stay because of Juan, without him, we would have had much more difficultly with the stay, thank you Juan! Give this man a raise!
