1. You pay up front including tip. Dont sit down to order. Just to eat. 2. 1 napkin. 3. 1 set of wood chop sticks. 4. One size od Pho. Small. 5. Meat is extra. 6. Veggies are extra. 7. $10 is just water and noodles. This is discount Pho. Not worth the discount. There are plenty of places where you can get good Pho for a few bucks more. You get tea. For whatever reason, wouldnt give us satay for $3 extra. Maybe they were out? Everything here is extra. Unless you just want water and noodles, go somewhere better.
Arrived at 715 for a 715 reservation. My dining companion had texted they had already arrived. Waited five minutes at the hostess station and not a soul to be found. Hostess returned, and muttered an apology. Took my coat and asked if I had a reservation. Gave her the name and advised my companion was already seated. She couldn't find the booking. Asked if it was a different name. Still could not find it. Sigh. Found the confirmation on my phone. Showed her. Silence. Then viola. She found something and allowed me entry. Tighter table configuration than previous but room is OK just less French. The missing cafe curtains, while it might seem like a good idea to remove. It is not. With the way the tables are angled, unless you sit at the two top on an 75 degree angle from you dinner companion. You have headlights in your eyes constantly. Clearly Rob, nor his management or design team have ever sat after dark. Invest in some window film at eye level if you can't afford draperies. Lobster Bisque was good. Foie Gras, large portion. Tasty but on the salty side. The 'toast' was a joke as it was completely soggy from sitting in the broth. It missed having a toast element. Hailbut. Good but nothing special Cote du Boeff. Too much gristle for 110 bucks. Large portion. The tender parts perfectly cooked. The Bernaise sauce was cold. Like out of the fridge cold. So thick it would not pour. No spoon provided. Had to fork some onto the plate. The frite were the highlight, hot and crisp. The salad has no business being served with this. Made no sense. We both would have liked more wine, but tHe server never asked, when serving the main course, and didn't return until it was completed. Certainly was quick to pour a second bottle of $10 San Palegrino though. Dessert menu supplied and declined. Did not over coffee or anything further. Returned with two spoons and another server brought some Gelato in an awful tropical sauce. Was a birthday. No cake, or acknowledgement offered. Disappointing. Shocking that the wine glasses, as part of the table setting, are re-used on a new table without being washed. Used to be a four time a year customer. Waited to try the 2.0 version, mainly due to inconsistent reviews and comments from others. Noticed no one had the table side Sole. Have no idea how they could mange it in the cramped room centre. Probably would only go back for Foie Gras as it is so hard to find.
Been living in the area for over a year now and kept trying to support this cafe, but I’m very disappointed. After a year of constantly going there, I was never greeted, smiled at or even serviced in a friendly manner. I never expected a special treatment as a regular customer, but compared to some other random coffeeshops, the service here is very disappointing. Staff here do not care about service and satisfaction of their customers and honestly this kills the vibe for me. The coffee is not that bad, but the whole atmosphere is not inviting.
Absolutely loved this pizza! 🍕🔥 The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, with that delicious wood-fired flavor. The toppings were generous and fresh, and the cheese was melted just right. Every bite was balanced and full of flavor. The place itself is clean and welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the service was quick. Plus, the music created a great vibe without being too loud. Definitely coming back!
10/10 experience at this restaurant! Atmosphere was cozy and the music was loud but Rob dealt with that in a hot minute! Rob was a wonderful waiter with a great sense of humour and had a box of reading glasses for reading the menu without even asking. Food was delicious and was not over stuffed. Special to go bag from Rob and his sense of humour. Would highly recommend this restaurant anytime!
1931 Gallery Bistro is such a delightful find in downtown Vancouver! Tucked inside the Vancouver Art Gallery, it offers a perfect blend of sophisticated and relaxed vibes, making it an ideal spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The food here is fantastic. Every dish is made with fresh, organic ingredients, and you can really taste the quality. The cocktails are not only strong but also creatively crafted, adding a fun twist to your meal. Plus, the views from the patio are just stunning – it’s a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff are super friendly and attentive, making sure you have a great time. The only downside is that parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s worth it for the experience. Whether you’re planning a casual meal or celebrating something special, 1931 Gallery Bistro is a fantastic choice.
A few steps from the noisy Campo dei Fiori, you will find yourself in this corner of peace and Romanism complete with oak tree, small church and decorated facades. The environment is refined, the ingredients chosen, the food delicious, the prices right. I dined here alone one evening in May and enjoyed every bite and every sip of wine.
A lot of the staff were accommodating and friendly however there were a lot of hiccups. Upon check in with animals it was less then ideal (window open 6 inches) yes there are screens but cats and small sized dogs could have easily fallen out. If you have healthy problems that require not a lot of chemicals I would not recommend. If you are a light sleeper I would not recommend. The heritage aspects of the Sylvia hotel and the ocean views make it iconic. However vacuuming the hallways every hour in the middle of the night with surely wake you and your animals up. Over all it was a half decent experience but I would definitely not stay there ever again. I was never offered a discount an apology or any type of compensation for any of the issues my animals and I faced in our 4 night stay. The value for Vancouver was not bad , but you get what you pay for. The cost of the room is definelty not off set by having no fridge and no way to heat up food. Room service staff were friendly / house keeping staff were friendly however that same problems happened time and time again. 9/10 staff were wonderful a few were sassy and extremely rude. For those reasons I give it a 2/5 if it weren’t for the friendly staff I would have given it a 0. Wait time was fast !
An awful matridee who didn’t seat us for 10 mins, whilst she set a table in an empty restaurant. She slammed the please wait here sign down in front of us, when we were sick of waiting and went to the bar to order a drink. We were then told we couldn’t sit in the part of the restaurant that had great views as it was ‘reserved for staff breaks’. Awful hygiene habits as her long hair continued to drape over people’s cutlery whilst she set tables, should have been tied back. Honestly an awful experience as our last leaving Canada, when everyone else had been so great, a disgrace to your country.
$5 glasses of wine every day from 5pm to 9pm. Always a great atmosphere and good food specials. Be careful not to drink too much wine :)
100 % when I go to the any Vietnamese restaurants , I just order the Pho and spring roll quick eat and leave , do not care much any decor or fancy menu , one of my Vietnamese client hear that I am a very fussy foodie , so they invite me for dinner last night , it is almost three years since my last visit , still very modern upscale and bright ambiance , very busy almost packed , little noisy that my liking , and the tablets too close together , not very relax or comfortable , but very creative traditional Vietnamese menu with a touch of French far style cooking , it is not a cheap place for Vietnamese food , almost double the price from another Vietnamese's restaurant , average price for Pho is between $20 to $25 , outside most you pay is $16 , again , lot of foods for 4 people , the best dishes is the Soft crab salad , a classic dishes very colourful and tasty and the Meat platter very flavourful , also the shrimp pancake not too bad , very top end quality , I all way tell people , you pay what you get , no wonder is one of the Michelin restaurant recommended it , I thank my client for a wonderful meal , would I come back ? not likely , too noisy and not relaxing place to enjoy your meal , special just for Pho and too expensive and waiting time over half hours , foods is excellent , but you know what people say " Different stroke for different folks " okay to try it out , if you have not been to any upscale Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver . service is okay . I love their excellent idea for reservation by donation program !
4 of us had dinner here. 3 love fish and sushi, 1 does not. Since I'm the one that doesn't there wasn't much on the menu for me. However, I did have a couple of "small plates" and they were filling and delicious. I especially enjoyed the spicey edamame. The chicken was good but I liked it much better once I scraped off the tarter sauce. Consider ordering it with the tarter sauce on the side. My family loves fish and are huge fans of sushi. They all thought the food was wonderful. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and very good service.

I had dinner here with 8 girlfriends for my birthday and found the service here condescending and presumptuous. The server started off by listing rules about how they wouldn't split the bill for us and saying that we were required to order an entree each. We didnt ask about splitting bills or suggest we weren't ordering entrees - we were being stereotyped by the server, who made it clear that he did not like groups of women. It negatively impacted the vibe for the night. The food and drinks were totally unmemorable. We recently did a similar girlfriends dinner at Hawksworth where the staff went above and beyond to suggest special cocktails, split bills and accommodate meal splitting to make everything amazing for us - we didnt request any of this, yet they did it on their own and made us feel like it was their pleasure. I wont be returning to Bacchus anytime soon - 2 stars are for the beautiful Christmas decor.

A beautiful spring afternoon tea at Bacchus Such an elegant and cozy experience — delicate pastries, perfectly brewed tea, and that timeless atmosphere. So grateful I got to share this special moment with my daughter Special thanks to Jonny for making our visit even more memorable. Already looking forward to the next one

The atmosphere was nice. Had to walk up two levels of stairs, but was greeted by hostess. Asked to sit at bar as I was solo. The environment was loud, with people laughing and talking and with the overhead music. I was watching media on my iPhone which was hard to hear because of all the noise. When some blonde lady tapped me on my shoulder and rudely said we can hear your phone. The bar was packed with a couple on both sides of me didn’t seem to mind. The Bartenders didn’t seem to mind or I’m sure they would have politely asked me to lower or turn my phone off. Ordered the Baseball steak with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Potatoes good. Vegetables could have been more. The steak says it’s cooked medium rare or less. Ordered medium rare it came more medium. Didn’t resemble a baseball steak at all.
