Atmosphere was kind of noisy . Service was pretty mid and I used to love the food here but the quality had bit gone down . The chowmein was salty , Nan was not tasty and the chicken thali’s khir was too sweet
Been living in the area for over a year now and kept trying to support this cafe, but I’m very disappointed. After a year of constantly going there, I was never greeted, smiled at or even serviced in a friendly manner. I never expected a special treatment as a regular customer, but compared to some other random coffeeshops, the service here is very disappointing. Staff here do not care about service and satisfaction of their customers and honestly this kills the vibe for me. The coffee is not that bad, but the whole atmosphere is not inviting.
(This is the same as my Open Table review). 4 of us had dinner at Fable Diner and Bar last night. Overall it was a good experience. Service was great - very attentive. Ambiance was "sports bar", as we expected. The food presentation was fantastic. Even a garden salad looked amazing on the plate. Everyone thought that their food was pretty good, with some dishes rising above others. Among our group we ordered chips/dip (fresh chips and avocado - tasty), garden salad, miso salmon bowl (salmon expertly cooked to medium-rare, lots of tasty, but salty, soy sauce), a smash burger (decent). Prices were reasonable. I appreciated the restaurant. I wouldn't rank it as a top-drawer food experience. Given that it's a pub with some extra dishes, the food was pretty much what I imagined it would be.
* Update for Jan 26/2025. We were back this AM for brunch and we had another great experience!! We’re in town for a staycation and enjoyed brunch at Black and Blue Rooftop. Service was top notch, the atmosphere was very nice and the food was great. We highly recommend. Thanks again!
- Great card for choice: menu at an interesting price, ramen in several sizes, including the mini size and a Ramen flight with 3 bowls to vary the flavors - Correctly executed cuisine - Soft ambiance (can accommodate dates or dinner with friends) with large screens showing sports matches
4 of us with tapas and paella for two, $230 including 2 glasses of wine and 3 small glasses of beer. The food was good, but thy paella for two was $50 - about a 10-inch plate and two octopus with chorizo that was no bigger than a small tapa, was $44.00. For a normal person, I expect that 4 tapas would be required to make a meal - about $50 for that. And, house wine served at about 4.5 ounces was $12. The quality of the food was good, the service - OK, but the prices in my view, way overpriced. The atmosphere, nothing special and would I go back? Nope.
After a long day out in the city we decided to stay in the hotel for dinner one night and thought we would try the tasting menu with wine pairings. The sommelier was good but generally the service was a bit hit and miss. It's a little strange that the hotel bar is open plan to the restaurant, it didn't make for a very romantic meal when the bar/restaurant manager turned the TV up to full volume in there as there was something he wanted to watch, completely ruined the atmosphere. Meal wasn't really the experience you would expect for the price, the location is more of just a functional meal rather than an enjoyable dinner experience. Wouldn't eat here again.
An awful matridee who didn’t seat us for 10 mins, whilst she set a table in an empty restaurant. She slammed the please wait here sign down in front of us, when we were sick of waiting and went to the bar to order a drink. We were then told we couldn’t sit in the part of the restaurant that had great views as it was ‘reserved for staff breaks’. Awful hygiene habits as her long hair continued to drape over people’s cutlery whilst she set tables, should have been tied back. Honestly an awful experience as our last leaving Canada, when everyone else had been so great, a disgrace to your country.
Michelin deserved restaurant. Such a great multi-course set menu meal we enjoyed eqch time we come. Excellent service where you felt well taken care of thorought the evening.
$5 glasses of wine every day from 5pm to 9pm. Always a great atmosphere and good food specials. Be careful not to drink too much wine :)
***FOOD: Utterly delish dim sum for downtown. Lots of variety and every dim sum we ordered was fresh and top knotch. SALT PEPPER FISH - Must Order/Try, so unbelievably good it’ll have you craving long after; HAR GAW & STICKY RICE & SIU MAI & BBQ BUN - everything is good piping hot and so delicious. Totally satisfied our cravings. CONGEE- very very good; MANGO PUDDING - wow don’t see this oldie and goodie on menus anymore. It was just so creamy good. So much mango. ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$ expensive because it’s downtown but if you are downtown and don’t want to travel to Richmond or outside of downtown then this is as good as it gets. ***DÉCOR: upstairs, looks like it was carved out of lobby of the office building with skylights which made it pretty warm in there and the AC had hard time keeping the place cool. Contemporary decor. Parking may be an issue but it seems to me it’s a place for tourists/visitors in hotel ***SERVICE: servers were ok, attentive, did try to seek us their special Kirin Mooncake. Dishes seemed to take a while so just assumed they were making them fresh. ***RECOMMEND: Yes highly RECOMMEND. Definitely would come back to eat here if have a craving for dim sum while visiting downtown.

Great place - I had nigiri sushi and gluten free tempura, both beautifully presented and delicious at a very fair price - the location is easy to get to and inside, has high ceilings, nice soft lighting with a soundtrack of familiar western pop music that isn't super loud - good service - the only snag was I didn't read the signage as O Sushi, I thought the O was some sort of decorative flourish and it took some effort to figure out how to find them to give this review!

A beautiful spring afternoon tea at Bacchus Such an elegant and cozy experience — delicate pastries, perfectly brewed tea, and that timeless atmosphere. So grateful I got to share this special moment with my daughter Special thanks to Jonny for making our visit even more memorable. Already looking forward to the next one

Glad we went, but I don't think we would return. The food was ok, and expensive. The atmosphere was fun enough. We have a small Indian restaurant in our home town that is significantly better than this one. Now we know! Service was good, no complaints there.

The atmosphere was nice. Had to walk up two levels of stairs, but was greeted by hostess. Asked to sit at bar as I was solo. The environment was loud, with people laughing and talking and with the overhead music. I was watching media on my iPhone which was hard to hear because of all the noise. When some blonde lady tapped me on my shoulder and rudely said we can hear your phone. The bar was packed with a couple on both sides of me didn’t seem to mind. The Bartenders didn’t seem to mind or I’m sure they would have politely asked me to lower or turn my phone off. Ordered the Baseball steak with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Potatoes good. Vegetables could have been more. The steak says it’s cooked medium rare or less. Ordered medium rare it came more medium. Didn’t resemble a baseball steak at all.
