$250 cash deposit required because of debit card My company paid for 3 nights in advance and when I showed up, I was asked for $250 deposit (why?, I asked - you cant even bill anything to your room?). I only had my debit card as the room was prepaid, and then I was told they could not bill the debit card for the deposit. So they sent me out on the streets at 12:30 am to get $250 cash out of an ATM machine. This was immediate "3 strikes and you're out for me". I did stay here for my purchased three days but won't return. It's too bad this ruined it for me - even though the room is as small as a dog kennel, the shoddy workmanship on the floors, and there is no real TV ("Smart TV" means "no TV except what you can find to stream on our slow 802.11g wifi network being shared by 20 people"), I was prepared to say the Manager was super-nice, and my meeting was at TSK, and you couldn't find a closer location (though the Chelsea is one block further and has no such debit card nonsense). But the cash deposit thing forever poisoned me on the place. If you do stay here, try the bubble-tea place across the street - they have really good Korean food cheap.
3 days business stay We had made a reservation for a company. It had been specified that the card used to make the reservation (business card) would not be the one presented at check-in (personnal card) and that payment would have to be taken from the card used to make the reservation. We were told there would be no problem. At check-in, no one told me anything about this, and it was only the day before departure that I realized that payment had been taken from the check-in credit card instead of the reservation card. I had not been warned at all! You can't take money from your customers' credit cards without telling them! The person present at check-in should have warned me. It was also very hot in the rooms. We didn't know that the TV had to be paid for and the Wi-Fi service is too weak. But it is clean, breakfast is good and the airport shuttle is punctual.
About our stay Great on price...Also a great place to host a party .... Although they do not have a pool and their fitness room is rather small. There is free breakfast but I'd say they need more of a selection. They also have free WI-FI but it tends to be a bit slow. Other then that it's a good place to stay at if your in and out.
5 mins walk from CN Tower I stayed 4 nights in the Marriott Residence Inn in a king studio. Check in was very quick. My room was on the 14th floor, the view from the room was not great as it faced the electrical plant. The room was very spacious with a small kitchen area of a microwave, hob, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. There was a sofa, a couple of desks and large TV. The room was very clean but dated. On the last night the room was never cleaned. Breakfast was ok, thought there might be more choice as it’s such a large hotel. Wifi was fast. The location was excellent, 5 min walk to CN about 15 mins to Union station which is great for getting the UP to and from the airport. Closest metro is St Andrew’s. Overall my stay was comfortable, however felt the room was very overpriced.
A good hotel in China town not far from down town For European and Asian travelers: After two trips to Canada for first time, I am convinced that the hotels in Canada (and much in whole North America as other says) can not be compared based on your experiences in Europe or Asia. I will tell why. The breakfast is never as diverse as in Europe and Asia and it is more or less a low level continental. I have stayed in top Hilton and it is a bit better by far lower quality than 3 stars (if you look to hotel's stars). The rooms and amenities are different and not comparable. I found all AC in 100% of stays (8 hotels) extremely noisy so started to adopt myself to that. So reduce your expectations and then: Ocho is located in China town, very close to many things around including Kensington market if interested. A small public parking is just behind the hotel so don't worry if you have car rental. Rooms are clean and warm water and clean shower and toilet is provided. It is type of hippy artist type of hotel and I do not see any problem if stay again here. Breakfast is not included but coffee, apple, juice and simple cereal is available for purchase. WiFi is working properly.
Affordable with character - set expectations accordingly Booking and such via email in advance was smooth and professional. In the area for 1 night only for an event, and could not bring myself to spend the going rate for a chain hotel downtown, which would probably have set us back double the price of this inn. We arrived at Union (train) - inn was easy to get to from the Spadina subway station - a short walk, though in the winter cold felt longer! We didn't drive, and I think their parking is limited though I did see public parking lots nearby. I always research my accommodation in advance, so I knew what to expect and I think that is critical for this facility. It is indeed in a "greek row" (fraternities, etc.) near campus - I knew that and was somewhat prepared for it. The neighbourhood is absolutely charming - old school, traditional, elegant. I also know (from advance research) the furnishings would be a little dowdy and somewhat dated, so I wasn't expecting high class elegance. There are 3 Victorian style houses beside each other - the pub, the office, and the Inn. You have to go to the office first to get the keys before you can get into the inn building. Which is nice from a security standpoint, but kind of a bother on a cold day! Service at check-in was pleasant and friendly. Room was inexpensive (relative to downtown Toronto). We were on the 4th floor - there are no elevators (I knew there wouldn't be) and if you have ever been in a Victorian home, they share a number of things in common. Kinda' twisty-turny, weird staircases/corners/angles, etc. Probably made sense when the servants had their quarters, but it is easy to get turned around! I had hoped we wouldn't get one of the king beds that was actually 2 twins strapped together, but we did...oh well. Meant husband and I had to stay each on our own sides because meeting in the middle was uncomfortable! The decor is grandma's guest bedroom, but there were some nice touches - bottled water available. Lighting was good in the bathroom which I like, though almost no counter space. Bathroom was functional, and Wi-Fi was good It is hard to rate older properties on cleanliness - things can be clean, but look not-so-clean, simply because of age. Nothing bothered me, though. Had a drink and some nachos in the pub - no one was there in the late afternoon, so surprisingly SLOW service given the emptiness but looks like it would be a popular place later at night. I'd wouldn't mind going back when it was hopping. Looks like it could be fun. We were given a $12 voucher so that was a nice touch. Now, back to that "greek row" ... I thought we were high enough up to not be disturbed; however, in the middle of the night, we could hear the street noise. I've got university aged kids myself, so I get it ... but it made for an interrupted sleep. I was going to pack earplugs but didn't - should have listed to my first instinct. Breakfast the next morning was unimpressive - nothing caught our eye - we didn't even bother staying for it, instead deciding to get a coffee elsewhere on our way back to the train station. Would we stay there again? For the price, for a night - maybe. It did have its charm, it had some character, and the price was right. I'd bring earplugs though, and try to get a room that had a complete bed, vs. the strapp-y thing.

WORST HOTEL STAY IN MY LIFE ☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5 This was, without question, one of the worst hotel stays I have experienced. From the moment we entered the room, there was a strong unpleasant odor. The room smelled stale and unclean, and the smell persisted throughout our stay. The adjoining-room door was particularly concerning. Not only did it allow significant noise transfer between rooms, but it did not feel secure and appeared poorly sealed. We could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring room, and odors seemed to travel freely through the connecting door. As a result, we felt that both our privacy and comfort were compromised. The condition of the room left much to be desired. The room itself felt worn and poorly maintained. The chairs in the lobby were visibly stained to the point that I asked my husband not to sit on it because it appeared unsanitary. The bedding was equally disappointing. We booked a king-size room for two adults and were provided with only three pillows. The pillows were extremely small—honestly smaller than some of the throw cushions on my living room couch—and offered little comfort or support. For a king-size bed, the pillow arrangement and quality were entirely inadequate. To make matters worse, despite smoking only outside and responsibly disposing of cigarette butts afterward, I was later accused of smoking inside the room and had my security deposit withheld. I have disputed this allegation and provided evidence supporting my position. The hotel was aware that I was in Toronto for a cardiac procedure. Within approximately an hour of being discharged from heart surgery, I was contacted regarding the alleged smoking violation and security deposit dispute. Given my medical condition and immediate post-operative recovery, I found the interaction unnecessarily stressful and upsetting at a time when my focus should have been on recovery. While I understand that hotels must enforce their policies, I was disappointed by the manner and timing of the communication, particularly when I was actively recovering from a medical procedure I understand that not every hotel is a luxury property, and my expectations were reasonable. However, I do expect a clean room, functional and secure accommodations, adequate bedding, and fair treatment. Unfortunately, this property failed to meet even those basic standards. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

Great location in the heart of Toronto I stayed at the Sheraton Centre Toronto in June 2026 during a business trip, and it reaffirmed why it remains one of the most reliable hotels in the downtown core. With an unbeatable location, solid amenities, and a layout that works exceptionally well for business travelers, it delivers exactly what you need when your schedule is packed. The hotel’s location is one of its strongest assets. Sitting directly across from Nathan Phillips Square, it places you within walking distance of the Financial District, the Eaton Centre, Queen Street, and countless restaurants and cafés. Transit access is excellent — Queen and Osgoode subway stations are both nearby — and the PATH network runs right beneath the hotel, making it easy to move around the city regardless of weather. This is a large, high‑traffic property, but it’s run with impressive efficiency. The lobby is always active, yet never chaotic. Conference groups, business travelers, and tourists all move through smoothly. The public spaces are modern and well‑maintained, and the indoor/outdoor pool remains a standout feature — a rare perk for a downtown Toronto hotel. Experience makes a difference here, because room location matters. The Central Tower continues to be the best choice — rooms feel more updated, quieter, and better suited for business stays. My room this time offered a fantastic view of the CN Tower, a reminder that you’re right in the heart of Toronto’s skyline. Waking up to that view adds a little energy to the start of a workday. On previous stays, I’ve also had rooms overlooking the City of Toronto building, and that view is equally impressive — a sweeping, architectural perspective of Nathan Phillips Square and the surrounding civic buildings. Both sides offer memorable vantage points; it just depends on what kind of skyline you prefer. One important tip: avoid rooms located near service doors. These doors open and close frequently, and the noise can be loud enough to wake you, especially early in the morning. Once you’re away from those service areas, the rooms are significantly more peaceful. Overall, the rooms deliver what a business traveler needs: a comfortable bed, a functional workspace, strong Wi‑Fi, and views that make the stay feel distinctly Toronto.
