1 star for poorly representing Cantonese and Szechuan culture. It's not good. I've eaten these dishes all my life this place is expensive, and the dishes have no flavor. Claypot rice is supposed to be super fragrant, this claypot rice is somehow both dry and they went light on the flavor they made it "north american". Hainese chicken rice massive disappointment. Rice not made properly, they didn't put the time in. It's supposed to be glistening with oil, every bite is supposed to literally glide, this rice is tough and fried (what the???), the chicken is supposed to be super super soft but theirs is tough. It's a dish that if properly done, is done in three different steps and each step takes half a day to do. They slacked and took a lot of shortcuts, not worth trying.
30 min wait for mediocre and overpriced food. Just a burger and hot dog. Don't waste your time or money
A Delicious Detour at Chennai Express** Ambiance: Sharing a space with other restaurants means seating is more "musical chairs" than fine dining Parking? Forget about it, it's a treasure hunt. But hey, who needs ambience when you have dosas this good? Food: Forget your fancy tablecloths, Chennai Express is all about the taste. Their dosas are the real deal - the crispiest, most flavorful I've had in Montreal in ages. The sambhar and coconut chutney are the perfect sidekicks to this South Indian symphony. Service: Be prepared for a wait - it's a one-man show here! But the dude taking orders, prepping food, and managing everything else is a saint. Super polite and calm, even with the pressure on. Overall: It's a culinary pit stop with a few bumps along the road. But if you're craving a delicious and authentic dosa experience, Chennai Express is worth the wait (and the parking hunt). Just don't forget your patience!
**Review: Souvlaki Bar at Montreal's Grand Central - Chicken Souvlaki Dinner** I recently picked up a Chicken Souvlaki Dinner from Souvlaki Bar at Montreal's Grand Central, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was ready right on time, which was great as I was on a tight schedule. The chicken was perfectly grilled—tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. It had that classic charred flavor that you crave from a good souvlaki. The accompanying sides were equally satisfying. The rice was fluffy and well-seasoned, complementing the chicken beautifully, while the Greek salad was fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of dressing. The tzatziki sauce was a standout, creamy with a nice garlicky kick that tied everything together. The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied without feeling overstuffed. It’s clear that Souvlaki Bar takes pride in their ingredients and preparation, making it a solid go-to for a quick, flavorful meal. Whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go or looking for a tasty dinner option, the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner is definitely worth trying.

A Montreal classic for a reason! Always hits, every time.
17.3.2025 - 19:15 hrs. LA MALLORQUINA. PUERTA DEL SOL. MADRID. That you are excited to have a couple of "torrillas con crema" and the waiter (Andrés; in the living room), tells you that THERE IS NO, can be understood. But for us to order two cream-free torrijas, to be served to other tables and tell us they're done... it was amazing. I told him and those show him that his companions took them to other tables. As he looked caught he said: I'll see if they stay!. Therefore, it was not so certain that they were over. After 2 minutes: brought us 2 plates and 2 torrijas. He added: only these were left. We saw, during our time in the living room, that they were still serving torrijas... What was your problem?: THAT I HAD TO GO DOWNSTAIRS TO THE CAFETERIA/PAKERY AND UPSTAIRS WITH THE TURRETTES. (They must not have plates for torrijas). And I ask La Mallorquina again and ask myself: WHY IS THE STAFF SO UNLIKELY, WITH CUSTOMERS, ALWAYS?
2 couples . We waited for the terrace , wasn’t a long time and sat down . Only 6 tables I think the terrace holds and about 2 tables inside were filled. This is a Saturday night, so sad , we have to help these places to stay in business !! We all ordered a Stella Artois beer 🍺 and ordered our meals ! I was dreaming of lamb chops so that’s what I ordered . So a Cesar salad 🥗 to start and my lamb chops came with my choice of grilled. Veggies 🌶, but they were covered in too much oil and sauce and soggy , next time I won’t order that , but my 4 lamb chops were delicious and I ate all of them ! Yum 😋 My husband ordered 2 chicken skewers with the grilled veggies and rice ., and tzadiki. We didn’t have dessert !
6 years ago I went for the visiting chef tasting menu . The paring with vines the meal was memorable . The next visit was ok .This time despite same owner it is not the same . I like my sardine cleaned from the organs or filleted and not to be given an attitude we the Portugiase we eat it that way especially what I believe were frozen with a bitter taste . The rest of the meal was bland just below average
We enjoyed a delicious, romantic dinner out first night in Montreal. We followed other Trip Advisor recommendations to reserve here and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The restaurant’s decor certainly felt like a cozy cabin and that was met with warm, attentive service from Kyle and staff. The special cocktails were outstanding including the maple old fashion. The wine list was also fanciful. The warm beet and feta salad was a wonderful start. Our entrees of cod and duck were memorable We would highly recommend L’Orignal for a beautiful Montreal experience.
... to have had dinner at Candide during a recent visit to Montreal. I should say first that this is not the kind of restaurant for "meat and potatoes" people or those who equate heavy entrees or large portions or decadent desserts or fast service with fine dining. The European model seeks a relaxed occasion with leisurely service and smaller but memorable servings. A fine meal with friends or family or a more intimate dinner for two is to be a total experience: good company, conversation, good food and drink and, perhaps, romance, all melded into one whole to be savored slowly and with appreciation. So it was at Candide. The food was superb, fresh ingredients prepared imaginatively. The two appetizers were garnished with tiny edible flowers native to Quebec; a nice touch I thought. Two courses were dressed with small amounts of purees of eggplant and smoked onion respectively. They were remarkable. My entree was halibut with cauliflower and sautéed onions. Fabulous. Dessert was corn cake with fruit and a slightly sweet dressing, topped with a small dollop of grape sorbet. Taken together, all of this was an absolute riot of flavors and textures. The service was impeccable, attentive but never intrusive. Each course was served by two people so that everyone in our party of four was served at exactly the same time. As each course appeared at the table so did one of the chefs to briefly explain what was in each dish and how it had been prepared. We paid a prix fixe price of $45.00 Canadian per person not including drinks or tip and that seems eminently reasonable to me. I recommend Candide with no reservations whatsoever. With all things taken into consideration, I think this was the single best restaurant meal I have had, ever. Maybe it will be yours too. I hope so.
100% gluten free heaven. This place is delicious! I have celiac disease so it was amazing not having to worry about a single thing I ordered. My friends all loved the food as well. The service was so friendly and quick that we came back multiple times on our visit to Montreal! I highly recommend the yuca fries, and the plantains as starters. Any of the arepas are amazing!

Good Guinness, decent chicken sandwich but don't order the fish and chips. For a "English Pub" the fish was so over battered that it was raw where it was touching the fish. The waitress had stopped by the table to ask how we were enjoying our food but never looked at me, or waited for me to respond and I had to get her attention after. When explaining my disappointment, her response was "I don't eat the fish and chips because it has too much batter". Not the conversion I expected to have and not the experience I've had at any other pub I've been to. I returned more than half the dish and explained that I was not interested in a replacement, that being said I would have hoped for a discount on that item. Had they even given me $5 off I would have given a better rating. If you want to watch a game and drink a beer, stop by here and then go eat somewhere else.

The Time Out Market is incredible! Fast service, excellent food, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend it if you're downtown.

I brought my girlfriend to eat at Monarque tonight for Valentine’s Day for what I assumed would be a pleasant meal. I understand that running a restaurant is not a simple business, but I have never had such a poor experience. We only ate half our meal, and left without finishing our main course or having our dessert. The service was slow and to be totally honest, the food was not very good. Sophie, the manager, was exceptionally rude, and her rudeness started upon our arrival. After we ordered martinis, and my girlfriend asked for extra olives, she told my girlfriend that she could only have more if we ordered another round of martinis. This restaurant is in decline and its best days are behind it. The management is rude. When we left, even though we ate half our meal (could not receive our main course and did not eat our dessert) Sophie charged us for the full price of the prix fixe menu.
