"Absolutely loved my experience here! The coffee was amazing, and the atmosphere was so welcoming and calm. I had a delicious vanilla latte that hit the spot. Plus, the place was super clean and tidy. I can’t wait to come back the next time I’m nearby!"
A cafe with a parisian ambiance, amazing croissants and average cappuccino. Actually, their latte is way bigger and fluffier than a cappuccino which surprised me. It is on a more expensive side considering its location. The service is fast but not very attentive (the croissant came cold though i asked it warm). There are 8-10 tables but it is busy and you might have to wait for a spot.
All atmosphere and hype, little substance. Messy waffle sandwich came smothered in maple syrup. Great! Messy... no worries, I was provided cutlery. BOGEY: a plastic knife? To cut through two waffles? But a metal fork? Drip coffee, when ordered, made no request of milk and sugar. Served black, I looked for the creamer station. Surprise! You have to bring it to the counter to get the paper sugar packets that should have been on the table, and your creamer will be poured for you in a bizarre interaction. Bathrooms require a secret code to enter. Recommended if you want to have breakfast in a minimum security prison.
Excellent service and a warm atmosphere
100% recommendable… it's hard to find but well worth the trip, the coffee is very, very good and the toast is more than worth it. Good value for money considering its location and what it offers, 10/10
11 AM Saturday morning: 1. Sorry, no more croissants... 2. Sorry, no more egg salad rolls.. 3. Sorry, no more tuna salad rolls.. Excuse me, are you pretending to be a successful bakery in a busy neighborhood or what?...
A few months ago, in Barcelona, everybody started talking about a local bakery that sells the new trending pastry in NYC: a round croissant filled with pistachio. I have never had the opportunity to try it out and, to be honest, that does not sound too appealing to me: in my opinion, a croissant must be shaped like a 🌙 and, most of all, it must be plain! (or it’s a cornetto…) But again, when we arrived in NYC, we didn't know anything about the city anymore, so we checked on the Internet. I looked for salty food and my wife looked for sweets (well, I did look for ice creams and doughnuts myself, to be fair) and she found Lafayette, the original “inventor” of this round pastry (they call it Suprême, btw, but it’s… a croissant). First, we had to queue (under the rain!) for about 20 minutes to get inside just to order to go... While we were queuing, we could see through the Windows all the "content creators" inside showing a camera how much they were enjoying their Suprême: sad. Once inside, I was amazed by... the darkness of the venue. I couldn't even see what I was ordering. Honestly, I knew what I was coming for, otherwise, I couldn't have known what to order... they don't want us to see what we eat? That's a shame because, when I got used to the darkness, I could guess that the venue actually looked very nice. I sincerely don't know why they don't turn the light on. So the clerk at the counter told us about the 4 flavors available that day and we picked pistachio and the seasonal: Suprême de Noël. I must say that the pistachio Suprême was very good, at least the half where there was cream. The other half was just like a regular croissant, a good one but nothing from another world either. The Suprême de Noël was not that good, the cream was too thick, I guess to make it seem like an actual "bûche" but that didn't fit the Suprême so much. Don't get me wrong, it was not bad, but for $10 a piece and a 20-minute rainy line, I expected way more. I would trade this for a good croissant or a pistachio cornetto anytime. Quality & taste: 7/10 Quantities: 9/10 Atmosphere: 5/10 Originality: 7/10 Ratio price / quality: 2/10 Service: 1/10 How I felt afterwards: 3/10
After going to takahachi almost everyday since it opened, I could say it’s of complete miscalculation of the owner’s plan to reduce the the size of baked goods in half and poorer quality. The staff are completely changed and not welcoming at all. It’s sad because that’s why most people living and working in the neighborhood went there for. Sorry but never will go back.
A charming French bakery in NYC offering buttery croissants, delicate pastries, and a cozy atmosphere that feels like a little slice of Paris.
Absolutely fantastic! I wrote a lengthy review I accidentally failed to post. As I don’t want to rewrite the point was the breakfast was top shelf, dessert was not too sweet (yeah!), eggs fluffy and flavorful, fingerling potatoes crunchy on outside and soft inside with perfect seasoning. Service was absolutely top shelf. Attentive, friendly, and absolutely fantastic! This place isn’t cheap but the food and atmosphere is top shelf! Definitely a worthy stop! Very nice French atmosphere. I even heard French being spoken.

I didn't even get a chance to sit down—my first impression was zero. I walked in to ask a question, but the guy at the counter was on his phone and paid me absolutely no attention. When I did ask him something, he answered rudely, so I wouldn't recommend coming here

Lunch | $10–20 I am a NY diner (aka “Greek diner”) aficionado. I grew up on Long Island and waitressed my way through college at a diner in Nassau County. Sadly, many of these diners have closed, which is a great loss. Happily, Viand still stands as a shining example of a classic diner. The service is warm and friendly and the food is honest and straightforward. It is well-prepared and well-presented, providing excellent value for money. The staff is great. This is in contrast to other diners (I won’t name them), which know they are the only option in the neighborhood and customers are made to feel as though they are lucky to be waited on. To visitors: skip the Starbucks and Le Pain Quotidien at head to Viand. It represents the best of what NYC has to offer. BTW, I don’t know the source of their bagels, but they are among the best in the city.
