A very pleasant stay. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hallways were somewhat noisy with folks who forget to use quiet indoor voices and doors that autoshut (as required) with a solid bang. The neighborhood street was a bit noisy during early evening hours but didnt impact sleep. The staff was cheerful and helpful. The location was 2 blocks from the BART and the ACT Theatre, and just a block from the courthouses. Excellent value for the city and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Absolutely do not recommend this hotel. The location is extremely sketchy and dangerous. It’s very sad, but there were people injecting needles right next door. From our window we could see it happening. Felt incredibly unsafe every time we left the hotel room. Unsure how this hotel has so many good reviews. The hotel itself is cute. However, we also received a noise complaint even though we were sleeping. The phone call woke us up, after we had traveled 18 hours. Elevator is also extremely slow.
Absolutely outstanding! The vegan beast breakfast was one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. I can’t stop thinking about it and wish I could have it again right now. The service was incredible and fast, my only issue is just it’s really really loud and echoes and not a place you could necessarily go to have a meeting or a conversation with someone.
A Warm Welcome to the USA at Hotel Fiona! As a first-time visitor to the United States, We couldn't have asked for a better introduction than our stay at Hotel Fiona in San Francisco. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed – and a big part of that was thanks to Erika, our wonderful host. Erika went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, safe, and informed. She was incredibly friendly and helpful, taking time to answer my questions about the area, give local tips, and recommend nearby restaurants and attractions that weren’t just tourist traps. Her kindness really set the tone for the whole trip. The hotel itself is charming, clean, and well-located – close enough to walk to many key spots in the city, but still in a peaceful neighborhood. Room was cozy, well-kept, and had everything we needed. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches like great coffee and tea in the morning and the quiet, restful atmosphere after a day of sightseeing. As someone experiencing the USA for the first time, I felt genuinely cared for here. Hotel Fiona, and Erika in particular, helped make my trip memorable in the best possible way. Highly recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco – especially if it's your first time in the States!
A classic hotel, remodeled to be comfortable, nice and quiet. Extremely good value.
A fantastic overnight stay at Hotel FIONA. Wonderful and pleasant staff, great central location. Easily accessible by train from SFO. Beautifully decorated rooms, incredibly quiet. Adjacent gym and pool facilities if needed. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back and staying longer
My stay at the Stanyon Park Hotel was necessary as a family member was an inpatient at at UCSF which is within walking distance. I met my House keeper on my day early check out by random occurrences in the hallway. She was incredibly polite and thoughtful; in asking me specific questions about care needs for my room. I explained I was checking out early so her thoughts were appreciated but not necessary. The rest of the staff seemed to only be there for the purpose of working; not for the needs of customers. All or most of the rooms at the Stanyon Park Hotel face inward upon each other at some point; like a horse shoe. This causes many issues. From sounds that carry ( voices, music, children screaming, personal sounds, phone calls etc.) , the inability to open the window shades for lack of privacy, ( you see directly into one another’s room. So there is a huge feeling of isolation at the very least to confinement. There are no pictures on the walls and this picture is mis leading; it really shows the shear inner Roman Shade partially lifted, as they do not lift all the way, with the view of the building across the way. Nothing more. The windows themselves , though part of the vintage “ charm” were an issue for me personally. As the are sash window that physically moves up and down; they are easy to become unbalanced from side to side as the move up and down. Causing them not to sit all the way to the bottom of the sill; leaving a open air gap. Well; the week I was there; it dropped to 37 degrees! The small baseboard radiator style unit heater takes a significant amount of time to heat the room! ( even at full on!) Speaking of the windows…my bathroom window was opaque with no shade whatsoever! This meant that once darkness fell; no light could be used in the bathroom for any bathroom routine! As everything would be silhouetted in that opaque window for all to see! Same for the morning shower routine! I looked out the ally and could see the other bathroom windows had Roman Shades. Seeing that this was the case; on two separate occasions, I asked the front desk to have this investigated. The morning girl looked at me like I was making a peculiar request to have a window covering in the restroom for privacy! Then she explained that it would most likely not be done for some reason about screws being placed in the walls. I had to explain to her; that shades are in fact, installed in the window itself, and not the wall. So she finally “ got it” and agreed to have the maintenance person drop by the room. In not having heard a report, by the next morning, I asked again. Same thing. This front desk person did not understand what opaque was. By this time; I was getting pretty fed up with these two. So I said; how would you like to shower or go potty with a back light behind you to where everyone can see you? And I added; the rest of the rooms have them and right now I am showering in the dark! She only agreed to pass along my message to maintenance just to appease my request. Suffice it to say. Absolutely nothing was done about my request. Nothing was said to me about this awful and what I would call unacceptable inconvenience. When I was checking out, a full day early, two men were behind the counter. An older woman was trying diligently to find a room for 1 night at the last minute. Do you think they gave her my room? ( with the hotel booked up.) Nope…..even with an excuse of their computers showing blocks of rooms being taken blah blah….they, as human beings, knew I was checking out early, and it was available. Bad Form Dudes! I can Honestly say…Run, Run Far away from this Hotel.
Clean if smallish rooms. Front desk Millennials clueless. A bit noisy at night. Great location though! One block from Union Square. Not a bad base for exploring The City. Good online rates. Walking around town is very nice but steep! Built in 1909. Nicely renovated. Thanks
"mini bar" was missing a milky way when i arrived; despite my having immediately alerted hotel staff upon my discovery of said missing milky way, I nevertheless discovered a $3.25 charge tacked sneakily onto my bill! room wasn't clean enough, the duvet needed to be removed from service because of staining; nothing impressive here except for the photographer's ability to make dingy and lower than expected ceiling feel bright and airy! . when i checked in (for a single night stay), i requested a late checkout. the hotel obliged, although i don't understand why the guest after me in the queue was told 1230 while i was told 12 was the latest possible time available. besides this, the staff were all quite friendly and down to earth. i had an incredibly disappointing experience with the hotel manager. Under-confident as the leader of a workplace, the manager here claims their authority over others by putting them down. He was immature, disrespectful, expressed a contempt for guests as burdens, and called me names while attempting to save face while reversing a surcharge on my bill despite his initial insistence that he would not. Onlooking staff remained courteous but quiet, not wanting to get dragged into the manager's fit of frustration. I made a valid request, was right to have done so, and was met with the manager's attempt to steamroll me while making false/unfounded claims regarding my moral fibre. The hotel didn't need 3 people working, anyhow. I would fire the manager and promote the girl who checked me, since she demonstrated good understanding of hotel operations and intuitive understanding of guest requests. If you are looking for a bed and a shower and single serve pumpkin pie flavor coffeemate creamers and you want a cheap room with bad natural light, then this is your place! tldr; half star for the decent cable channel selection (which includes SHOWTIME~!) gets rounded up to one star.
Very happy with my stay - clean and tidy. Just the right size. Very well located. (Especially for hire cars). Not noisy. Reasonably priced. Has a bar. No food facilities but restaurants abound. Good for moscone centre if you’re at a conference
"We rarely get people from California here," said our concierge. Indeed, most of the guests here were from foreign lands: Germany, France, Russia, Japan. It's a hipster hotel, definitely. The staircase is off-kilter (we were on the fourth floor) and the elevator features a cage. If you take a south-facing room, expect the garbage truck in the alley at 4;30 a.m. Also: remote parking comes in at $30 per day. Still, the venue was prepared with care and a sense of daring. The place is cheap and fun and in the center of the action. We loved the raisin bread in the morning. The staff is top notch. We loved the live music in the bar at night. Stay here expecting an experience that is clean and supported but not usual!
10/10 for Hotel Fiona. My wife and I were in town to attend Hamilton at the Orpheum Theater on Market St., a 10 minute walk. The hotel was nicely renovated and clean. Parking was convenient on the ground floor beneath the hotel. Our room was spacious, with a sleeper sofa, a large table, and a comfortable king bed. The continental breakfast pastries were outstanding! For the convenience and the price, Hotel Fiona is hard to beat. We felt quite safe walking to and from the theater at night. The neighborhood was picked up and pretty quiet, considering this is the heart of SF.

Really the only issue we had was only rooms on the inside of the building had AC so we had our windows open and it was loud all night.

Natalia was a great hostess. She was very attentive and provided excellent service. The food was good, it wasn't too loud, and the servers weren't too pushy like they are at some places.

Ongoing construction that is very loud and goes 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm. Yet they choose not to tell you in advance. Room smelled so bad it was intolerable. Definitely stay elsewhere.

I was underwhelmed by this hotel and will not stay again. The common areas were dingy and tired, and the neighborhood felt unsafe when returning from dinner in the evening. The coffee in the lobby was excellent, but there was no coffee maker in the room. The staff's hospitality was inconsistent, with door staff standing by while I hauled my bags up the stairs unassisted. On the positive side, the bed was excellent, the room was clean and extremely quiet.
