1-Star Review Avoid this place at all costs — complete failure on basic hotel basics and shockingly rude staff. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Buffalo Airport (131 Buell Ave, Cheektowaga, NY) and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I almost never leave negative reviews, but this one earned every bit of it. Check-in was a disaster. Got to my room (229) and the heat was completely broken. The thermostat read 57° inside while set to 69° and it just blew freezing cold air for 20 straight minutes. Had to drag my stuff back to the front desk and switch rooms. Second room finally had working heat. Next morning/early afternoon I came back and my key wouldn’t work at all. They had never programmed it for my multiple-night stay. Another trip to the front desk. The pool situation was ridiculous. It was closed the entire first two days with a bunch of different excuses. Finally opened on day 3 for just a few hours… and there were zero towels. Front desk tried to help, but a housekeeping employee standing right there launched into a full-blown uncontrolled rant about some group that had apparently caused problems. They had three full days the pool was closed to get towels ready — zero excuse. Breakfast was the worst part. The woman running it is straight-up god-awful rude. She had nasty comments for almost every guest. The pancake machine never worked once across three mornings — and honestly it felt like she didn’t want it to work. She made rude remarks to parents and kids, and went off on multiple tangents ranting about TSA workers not getting paid at the nearby airport. It was embarrassing and made the whole breakfast area uncomfortable. The only positives were the front desk staff, who were consistently kind and welcoming, and the bean-to-cup coffee machines, which were a very nice upgrade. However, the back-of-house team (housekeeping and breakfast) desperately needs serious customer service training. The level of rudeness and incompetence is truly unacceptable. Yes, the location is convenient to the airport, and yes it’s a little loud with plane noise — that part is expected. But the constant breakdowns, poor maintenance, and rude staff ruined what should have been a simple, no-stress stay. Do not stay here unless you enjoy frustration and attitude. I will not be returning.
1. Lift frequently not working. Very poor maintenance. I am 61 years old. 4 times claimed thru stair case with in 4 nights upto 7th floor after coming from tourism. Most of the time lift struck between floor while coming down..Hence we come down thru stair case. Very unsafe. Claiming and coming down is very unsafe to all age groups. Moreover, 2. Toilet flushout also not working. Every day we complain about the issues in the Reception personals, No immediate action at all. 3. Very low level Breakfast items. No of food item is less. Every day repeated the same break fast. Boring and no taste at all. 4. Over all poor hotel condition, Response, Maintenance etc.5.very smelly carpet in the 7 th floor. 6. No carbage removal in time to time . 7. Bed spreads not not cleaned properly -- Not advisable to stay/Not worthy for the money which we are paying to this Madison LES hotel/New York - Useless.
1.5 hours wait for breakfast and 1 hours wait each for check in as check out. I’m very disappointed in management. I’ve been Hilton diamond member for years and now I doubt whether I still want it.
*2 NIGHT STAY = 2 STAR?!?!* Room (both pro & cons) 3/5 Service - 2/10: TERRIBLE RECEPTIONIST Location - 5/5 Pros: Excellent location nearby many tourist areas, seconds from the airport, restaurants and more - I’d say all within a 15 minute proximity and about 20-25 minutes from downtown Buffalo. Being by an airport it was not loud at all and in a very quiet area on a dead end road. Newly renovated - rooms were done when we were there (however there are cons). Annie the breakfast host was amazing very sociable and acted very quickly for servicing breakfast. Cons: Front desk lady was awfully quiet, hardly spoke and was very straight faced which is not typical of all the experiences we have had at Holiday Inns (she had braids in her hair & a orange knit sweater on & believe her name was Oryal/Oryalle/Iroyal). She would never greet us or ask how we were. The renovations that took place affected breakfast accessibility to the point the breakfast hostess was overwhelmed with tons of guests in a small room, shortage of food and managing rude guests and we felt terribly bad she didn’t have additional help. The pool was closed during Reno’s and nobody informed us. People are not respectful in the breakfast environment (which is not the fault of hotel however forewarning) and a man even coughed on the food, and some took a lot for themselves or used their hands. Also, some of our yogurt was expired!! From the second we walked in our room there was residue on the floor like it had not been washed (we didn’t complain as it was late and our first night - SEE PHOTO ATTACHED) Then throughout our stay my child who does not walk yet was crawling on our hotel room floors and his socks were so dirty just from being on the floors (his socks were brand new - see photo attached of why I had to change his socks before even going out). Lastly, hairs in the shower, a bobby pin on the floor, & a nail near the air conditioning that could have been very harmful. A room can be newly renovated but if it’s dirty then what does that tell you? Overall 2/5 MAYBE a 3. This could be improved and I’d have no complaints if it was looked after with housekeepers improving their cleaning practices, a new receptionist attitude, and when done the renovations the hotel will be beautiful without a doubt! I’m not one to write reviews and rarely complain but felt compelled to write this. For $600+ for 2 nights we experienced less than what we had hoped.
1 X Queen size studio It's a cost-effective hotel. You can walk to all major areas of Manhattan. Although it's slightly below expectations for a 4-star hotel, I am satisfied. Breakfast is included.
1. We booked for 5 people and there are 2 towels in the room. I asked for more towels downstairs and he handed me extra sets promptly. If I asked for something, they have immediately. So great service. Room was very nice. Shampoo, soap and conditioner in dispensers. Plus one bar of soap. Hairdryer. No other amenities in bathroom. 2. Sofa did have stains. Maid could be heard on the phone next door, supposedly cleaning for an hour. 3. Coffee maker. Sink with hot and cold water for drinking. Only two glasses for water and two paper cups for coffee. For a room of 5. One extra blanket and one extra pillow for two queen beds. Exactly 4 hangers. 4. 4th floor has nice view of city. 5. Parked two blocks down, as it’s cheaper and we wanted access to the car, instead of valet. 6. Breakfast was great. Came with the room. Waffle maker, but no whipped cream or chocolate sauce. Custom omelet station that had 3 diff cheeses, lots of fresh vegetables, jalepenos, meat, and even egg whites. Chef had a jalepeno topper creation work cream cheese. I asked for cream cheese on my non-jalepono and he was happy to do it. And more scrambled eggs and sausage in buffet. Nice pastries and jams. Oatmeal with toppings, no nuts at all. Hot water for tea, and an additional spigot for hot tea. They had regular decaf tea, regular tea, and a few other teas. To go utensil kit was there but not to go bags to grab and run. 7. No tea/coffee station downstairs in the afternoon. There was a bar with good attendance. 8. 30 min drive to Niagara Falls
1980 meets gross Family of 4 (two boys one 6 one 2) Stayed one night, mainly picked because it was attached to the water park, call it convenience but Oh God, do you pay for the convenience. We stayed in room 2006 Got there Thursday, left on a Friday, Included a Friday's Breakfast and by the time all the fees were done that one night was $400 (this may have included the waterpark admin but not 100%sure on that). The hotel itself looked like something that hasn't seen any updates since 1980.Our room had a light that did not work, a standup lamp that was falling apart, beds where you can feel every spring you were lying on and a bathroom that I didn't want to be in without having shoes on. The rooms surround a courtyard that is a fair size, where the kids tend to run around even though there are signs saying no running around / no Alcohol / No ball hockey etc…. In the courtyard all the rules are not enforced by any staff. Kids were running loops around the upper level till 10:30pm and you sure could hear every lap they did, there were kids playing ball hockey with mini-sticks. The really only nice thing about this entire hotel was location. A short walk across the parking lot was the casino, a short walk out the front door was Clifton Hill and you could stay inside and walk to the water park from the hotel. If you want a gross room in a un-updated hotel that is loud and so so super expensive then sure pick this one. I will not be returning, for the price I would have rather have stayed at Sheraton. *Be warned Parking is TIGHT!!! like real tight, we have a full size truck and it took some back-and-forth to get out of a parking spot and I witnessed cars scrap the crap out the front end trying to park.*
2 star hotel experience The decor in the hotel was beautiful. The bathroom was absolutely amazing. Never seen before. But this hotel is no way a 5 star hotel. The rotating bar was not working. One of the elevators were not working. They were short staffed. The house keeping was rude and inconsiderate. The room had so much dust. The so called hot springs was looking like an abandoned area. The breakfast server was so rude and unprofessional. She said she ran out of bread and cream cheese and so many other supplies. Then she snuck in some bread and when we went to get the bread she unplugged the toasters. We reported this behavior to front desk but front desk did not do anything except apologizing. I would give this place 2 stars.
2/10 experience This hotel was pretty clean, but there are MANY extra charges. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!! An extra $100 was fined. I also paid for offsite parking and was fined $30 every day for it. The pool was clean but there were a few hair strands here and there. The rooms smelt really bad (most likely coming from ac). Then, no breakfast is provided. Finally, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls.
10 out of 10. Would definitely come back. We loved our 3 days. 😊🌷 Had the friendliest staff and front desk of anywhere we’ve ever stayed. Took advantage of the complimentary espresso machine and teas in lobby every day. Loved the breakfast in bed delivered to our door in morning. Croissants 🥐 to die for. Rooms very clean. And very large. And loved the steam shower. 🚿 Convenient to anywhere we wanted to walk or drive. Restaurants were great. Falls was beautiful. Walked there a few times. Outlet shopping was nearby to drive and a great place. Tulips farms in area were beautiful too. 🌷🌷
100000% reccomend, beautiful rooms, breakfast in bed! High quality, full COMFORT Absolutely our favorite place to go for a break from life and kids! Small place, two stories and fully luxurious rooms. We have been multiple times over the past few years and even our least favorite room is still just Absolutely perfection!! The staff is amazing, lets add check in is 4 but check out is NOON! most places I stayed before were earlier check out. THE BREAKFAST in bed is wonderful, think croissants and eggs, some fruit and OJ. You will never catch me saying anything but positive words about Sterling. I don't want to give away my safe space but for any parents who need a night away this is your place. Weekdays are so affordable and even weekends....compared to anything else is Niagara this is where you want to be. 10000% if you need a moment from life with your partner you should choose Sterling!
11/10 The hotel was busy due to all the events this weekend and the staff did an amazing job getting us checked in quickly. (Thanks Debbie!) The free shuttle ride to our event a few blocks away was a huge perk. Breakfast was delicious and I really enjoyed the variety of options especially the little blueberry muffins!

They charged us twice for our room. No parking available. The breakfast was 30 minutes late coming out. My suggestion is to STAY AWAY from this location!!!

Excellent breakfast/brunch. It was fun to visit as an American and taste everything to compare... The ketchup, bread, the quality of the food. Everything was much cleaner and less sweet. Much more balanced flavor. It was refreshing.

A Stinky Stay at the Hyatt Place Stayed here on a girls’ trip. There were three of us. While it wasn't a total disaster, there were enough issues that I won't be back, though more because of the location than the hotel itself. Check-in and front desk were a consistent mess all three nights. Angelo was kind, helpful, and the only one who seemed to know anything. We arrived around 10pm on the first night to a long line at the front desk. When I finally got to the agent, he asked ME what my room number was. I had tried mobile check-in but it wasn't showing in the app. He then looked it up and announced the room number out loud, which is a basic security no-no. As a World of Hyatt member, there was no dedicated line, and no one offered water at check-in. I had to ask, and even then it wasn't clear the agent knew it was a member benefit. Once we figured that out, getting Explorist water bottles on subsequent days was easy enough. We just had to ask at the desk. The second night wasn't better otherwise. The woman working was on her phone and didn't know what time checkout was. I wanted to use my 2pm late checkout, a standard World of Hyatt benefit, and had to go back and forth before she figured it out. There are some real cleanliness issues here. The elevator greeted us with a strong mix of BO, wet dog, and food. The shower curtain had an odor. The laundry room (just one washer, one dryer) also had a smell. In the room, we found a Gushers gummy half-hidden under the bed from a previous guest, and someone else's wad of hair in the side table drawer next to the couch. I complained about the gummy, they came and cleaned, and asked if it was satisfactory, which I thought it was, but looked again this morning and realized the gummy was still there! Then the next night we returned after a long day out to find housekeeping hadn't come at all. No one told us housekeeping isn't daily here, which is not standard for a Hyatt Place and would have been nice to know upfront. Between the hair, the gummy, the smells, and the inconsistent housekeeping, cleanliness is clearly a weak point at this property. Breakfast is $11, not the free buffet you get at most Hyatt Places. The parking garage is a city-operated lot that felt rough and a little unsafe. We dreaded going in there every time, even with the QR code Hyatt provided for access. One of the elevators was consistently broken and made an alarming sound. Location is a double-edged sword. You can walk to Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, the state park, and even Canada which was great. But the immediate area around the hotel is pretty run-down. There were signs everywhere limiting bathroom use to guests only, and you get the idea why. It adds a layer of unease that follows you in and out of the property. It was a running joke between my friends and I how much worse the US side of the falls is compared to Canada. Bottom line: I'd recommend staying in Buffalo and driving in if you’re on a budget or crossing into Canada for a nicer base if you’ve got it like that.

Perfect view to the falls This hotel is perfectly located at the opposite side of the American falls The building is not new and not very nice, but the views to the falls are outstanding. I stayed in a room on 22th Level with a balcony and a view to the falls. This kind of rooms are of course very expensive, but for me the athmosphere was outstanding and I can only recomment to book one of these rooms. You have also nice views from the restaurant, but the balcony is more outstanding for the falls. Breakfast at the restaurant was also excellent. The whole staff was outstanding(especially valet). Perfect stay for me!
