Amazing burger, very good taste and very fast service. The only problem I found is the location is in the middle of downtown so is a lot of crazy stuff around. But it is for the food highly recommended

Came here mid-week at 11am so it was not busy at all. We made a reservation and were seated right away which was great. I ordered Fly Me to the Bennies with Smoked Salmon which was amazing! The hashbrowns are really the star of this brunch meal as they were smashed and double fried which I am guessing is why it took a little longer to prepare. The hashbrowns were well-salted, but I found the actual bennies to be a bit bland in flavour. If you eat the two together, then it balances out, but on their own, my friend and I both found our bennies to be lacking in seasoning although they were still very good. I will note that when we were there, it was quite loud as there were kids at another table screaming, but kids are kids and it can't really be helped. The reason for the only 3 star rating was that when we came in, we had gone out for coffee earlier elsewhere, but I brought the disposable cup in from another cafe because I was still drinking it and put it on the table. I was immediately offered the opportunity by a different server to "throw it out" and when I said no, I immediately knew it was because "no outside food was allowed". If I was a mom with a kid who brought out a juice box from Minute Maid, would the server have asked me the same question? Probably not. I asked if I could keep my crazy expensive $10 coffee at the front and at least I was told yes. This is Vancouver, not Paris and being pretentious when there are literally homeless people outside your location is incredibly off-putting. I brought in a coffee cup, not a takeout meal and I honestly don't think any restaurant in Vancouver can afford to treat customers like this considering how quickly things change. The only thing that saved this review from being lower were those hashbrowns.

* Update for Jan 26/2025. We were back this AM for brunch and we had another great experience!! We’re in town for a staycation and enjoyed brunch at Black and Blue Rooftop. Service was top notch, the atmosphere was very nice and the food was great. We highly recommend. Thanks again!

A beautiful restaurant located inside the Wall Centre Sheraton! I had a wonderful experience enjoying a delicious breakfast paired with a stunning view. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the quality of the food made the morning even more memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great breakfast spot with a beautiful setting

A favourite spot and a neighborhood gem - it’s a “iykyk” spot and you’ll find tourists staying at the hotel as well as locals like myself out for a guaranteed splendid meal, service and time. Laurent the Somm here knows his wines and his passion for it is contagious. This is one of the few places that offers Barolo and other fine wines by the glass. Sara, our favourite server, always offers the most personalized but professional experience. We’ve celebrated many occasions here and have brought many friends simply because it’s a 5/5 all around. Favourite dishes include: rigatoni bolognese, truffle crusted salmon, risotto and Caesar salad.

1. We waited approx 30 for our 8 pm reservation. Why have reservations if they are not honoured in a timely fashion. 2 The noise level was like we were sitting in the kitchen. Could not hear our conversations across the table nor could we hear the specials the server verbally told us. Just give us a printout of the specials on a paper or on an iPad. 3. We ordered still water and bubbly and asked for the water to be left on the table as it was a very hot day. It wasn’t and the server was inattentive when our water glasses were empty. So we self served. 4. We ordered wine .Then, we were moved to a quieter area of the restaurant with a different server. When the wine came, I said to the server that it was this bottle was not the one we ordered. The server still poured the wine into the wine carafe. I asked if I could see the bottle. Sure enough, we were given a different bottle than the one we ordered. 5. When the server approached our table she always interrupted our conversation rather than waiting for a pause to ask her question(s) 6. The meal arrived which was tasty! Whew! 7. Then there was a mixup with the desserts. One order was incorrect and one couple had to wait 20 minutes for their dessert. Sadly, it was the newly engaged couple and the reason why we were out for this dinner. So, 1/7 for a high end restaurant. I am so disappointed! I hope management will try to address these issues so that this once great restaurant can regain our attendance. In the meantime, we will go elsewhere.

4 of us with tapas and paella for two, $230 including 2 glasses of wine and 3 small glasses of beer. The food was good, but thy paella for two was $50 - about a 10-inch plate and two octopus with chorizo that was no bigger than a small tapa, was $44.00. For a normal person, I expect that 4 tapas would be required to make a meal - about $50 for that. And, house wine served at about 4.5 ounces was $12. The quality of the food was good, the service - OK, but the prices in my view, way overpriced. The atmosphere, nothing special and would I go back? Nope.

After a long day out in the city we decided to stay in the hotel for dinner one night and thought we would try the tasting menu with wine pairings. The sommelier was good but generally the service was a bit hit and miss. It's a little strange that the hotel bar is open plan to the restaurant, it didn't make for a very romantic meal when the bar/restaurant manager turned the TV up to full volume in there as there was something he wanted to watch, completely ruined the atmosphere. Meal wasn't really the experience you would expect for the price, the location is more of just a functional meal rather than an enjoyable dinner experience. Wouldn't eat here again.

$5 glasses of wine every day from 5pm to 9pm. Always a great atmosphere and good food specials. Be careful not to drink too much wine :)

***FOOD: Utterly delish dim sum for downtown. Lots of variety and every dim sum we ordered was fresh and top knotch. SALT PEPPER FISH - Must Order/Try, so unbelievably good it’ll have you craving long after; HAR GAW & STICKY RICE & SIU MAI & BBQ BUN - everything is good piping hot and so delicious. Totally satisfied our cravings. CONGEE- very very good; MANGO PUDDING - wow don’t see this oldie and goodie on menus anymore. It was just so creamy good. So much mango. ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$ expensive because it’s downtown but if you are downtown and don’t want to travel to Richmond or outside of downtown then this is as good as it gets. ***DÉCOR: upstairs, looks like it was carved out of lobby of the office building with skylights which made it pretty warm in there and the AC had hard time keeping the place cool. Contemporary decor. Parking may be an issue but it seems to me it’s a place for tourists/visitors in hotel ***SERVICE: servers were ok, attentive, did try to seek us their special Kirin Mooncake. Dishes seemed to take a while so just assumed they were making them fresh. ***RECOMMEND: Yes highly RECOMMEND. Definitely would come back to eat here if have a craving for dim sum while visiting downtown.

*Warning, a long review, but worth the read* From start to finish, Kissa Tanto met (and exceeded) our expectations! Celebrating our friends 20th anniversary, we strolled up to the entrance, only to be greeted by Chef Watanabe, who indulged us with a photo after chatting with us for a few minutes about his passion for connecting with his guests. Walking up, we took in the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our group loved the decor which was minimal yet effective. Our friends kept commenting on how 'cool' it was. We clearly had a different experience than some of the reviewers, as the staff were a HUGE part of what made our night so enjoyable. Attentive, engaged, and clearly passionate about what they do. We never felt pushed into decisions, or upsold on anything. Primarily taking care of us for the evening was Daniel, who kindly selected our dishes for the evening after we asked him to 'just choose' what he thought we would like. We have no allergies, and aren't squeamish, so we like to think we are easy to surprise with menu options. We chose cocktails; the highlight for me was my Shoreline Martini, it was 'crushable' as Daniel so eloquently put it. Our appetizers were the Tonno Mantecato, Carne Cruda, and Octopus Salad. Our table was divided on favourites, but we all agreed they were all delicous. Next was pasta, which the incredibly helpful/knowledgeable/fantastic Belinda helped us pair with a gorgeous bottle of white wine. Our table shared, Tajarin and Spaghettoni. The Japanese curry aroma and flavours in the Spaghettoni lingered in the best way possible. Both equally gorgeous, complex and yet simple in presentation, these dishes satisfied us all. For our main event, the Whole Fried Fish and 24hr Coppa, with a side of Jordan's Beans had been selected by Daniel. They did not disappoint. The fish while impressive (and the favourite of our friend) could not compete in my opinion, with the melt in your mouth and incredibly flavourful Coppa. The surprising awesomeness of Jordan's Beans however, stole the show. Their creamy and rich texture was the perfect complement to our main dishes. All of the staff who took care of us that evening, Daniel, Emma, Roberto, Simon and Belinda were by far some of the best I have seen, and I worked in the industry for over 15 years. All were passionate, knowledgeable, and put up with my husbands corny jokes with friendly smiles. To complete the experience, we had another opportunity to chat with Chef Watanabe, who came to our table to see how we were doing. We learned more about Jordan's Beans, getting a bit of the story behind the passionate farmer of the beans themselves and what makes them so delicious. This is the kind of experience I would have expected from an establishment of this caliber, and yet I still felt surprised by the intimate nature of it all. Yes, it was a little louder than we may have liked, but I can only assume people were discussing their dishes and day as eagerly as we were. We left feeling like we had had enough, and felt like it was money well spent. Will we be back, absolutely! It was an absolute pleasure to dine at Kissa Tanto, as my mother always says 'make a memory', and that we have!

So we’re seated at table 13, it’s a corner table jammed up against the wall. It’s cramped for a big person and the chairs are small if you happen to be a bigger or taller person. Now into the food. The meat balls were delicious, and so was the bread and olives. I had wished the server had told us the meatballs are 3 meat balls and that it comes with a large slice of bread! We ordered the sourdough bread and olives too so we had enough bread for 6 people when there was just 2 people! Disappointed the sever did not say something! The pasta was good… but to be honest we were full so did not enjoy the main course as much as we should have! So my biggest disappointment is the location. Had we not provided a credit card we would have kept driving! This location is just off Hastings Street and the sketchy people on Hastings are on this street too! Parking was worrisome because of the area as well!! I would not return simply because of the location… it’s a rough area!!!

The atmosphere was nice. Had to walk up two levels of stairs, but was greeted by hostess. Asked to sit at bar as I was solo. The environment was loud, with people laughing and talking and with the overhead music. I was watching media on my iPhone which was hard to hear because of all the noise. When some blonde lady tapped me on my shoulder and rudely said we can hear your phone. The bar was packed with a couple on both sides of me didn’t seem to mind. The Bartenders didn’t seem to mind or I’m sure they would have politely asked me to lower or turn my phone off. Ordered the Baseball steak with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Potatoes good. Vegetables could have been more. The steak says it’s cooked medium rare or less. Ordered medium rare it came more medium. Didn’t resemble a baseball steak at all.
