2 stars. first time at chipotle and the workers were to fast and gave me beans when i didn’t want them. the drink machine had no ice so all the drinks were warm. the food was spicy and i asked for the no spice. the store was very loud and the tables were not cleaned well. would not recommend
A big disappointment. The energy of the place is, cold, loud and uninviting. Went with several friends and it was hard to hear the conversation with the loud music and background noise. My friend noticed right off the bat that all the servers were men (???!) there was a single woman as the hostess and one woman in the kitchen. You can't have such an unblanaced work place in this day and age except by design. Our server was courteous and professional but I would not describe him as friendly. It took a long time for him to come after he gave us the menus and his presence was sparse in general. Kudos to Lee, the sommelier, who arrived with a great presence, was very helpful and was easy to connect with. He was the best part of our experience! The food was...meh... For the price point it was unmemorable. We shared the steak tartare, tuna sashimi, focaccia, seafood risotto, papardelle with chicken, lamb ossobuco and fish of the day (sole in wine beurre sauce). What stands out the most were the potatoes that came with the fish and the focaccia. Would not recommend to a friend and do not plan on going back.
A little noisy, but the place was packed! The food was awesome. I had the omelette and my daughter had the smoked salmon. Both were excellent. Service was great. Top notch all the way around.
A hidden delight downtown! Love having my business meetings here. Calm, quiet, and so elegant.
Absolutely loved this pizza! 🍕🔥 The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, with that delicious wood-fired flavor. The toppings were generous and fresh, and the cheese was melted just right. Every bite was balanced and full of flavor. The place itself is clean and welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the service was quick. Plus, the music created a great vibe without being too loud. Definitely coming back!
Absolutely marvelous restaurant, found the atmosphere to be quiet and intimate, with lovely soft music that enhances the experience. Food and service was exceptional. Will definitely return.
We planned a family dinner at Dockside in lieu of our sons upcoming wedding. This would be our first visit to Dockside and based primarily on the fact that there is a lovely patio that frequently passed . We reserved a patio well in advance. Gamily would be coming a long way and with a small baby, outside would be ideal. At 2 pm on the day, staff phoned to inform us that the patio would be closed due to the rain. It was too late and complicated to alter 6 people’s schedules. The huge room where we sat was hot, stuffy & noisy. No air conditioning. When asking about turning on the fan, they said " door was open. " Food was disappointing & unimaginative with limited menu items for non meat eaters. Macaroni & cheese! Mussels were skimpy & small portions of halibut decorated with a few peas & potato pops, left all of us leaving hungry. The place was packed. Baby and I, overwhelmed by the noise, spent half the time outside on the now dry patio. Service was mediocre. We repeatedly needed to request water refills although I watched a waiter at an adjacent table actually pour water for guests! Certainly not conducive to the experience we anticipated and at a hefty price. We're always willing to pay for atmosphere, sumptious food and a relaxing meal. While we understand challenges restaurants have faced, this is over the top. Particularly on such a special occasion. Rain does happen & many patios remain open. We returned home to eat some food.
We’d read on the internet about their afternoon tea and thought of trying. We walked in at 2 pm on Sunday. A hostess with the name tag Zophia told us they were fully booked, but she could accommodate us for the last seating at 3 pm, “because of a cancellation”. When he came at three, the tearoom was half-empty. The meal was slightly above (maybe) what you could get at a decent sandwich shop for 1/3 of their outrageous price of $65 pp. A tiny cup of a tasteless watery soup was followed by two stale brioches with supermarket-quality jam and clotted cream. The latter was actually pretty good, even though the waitress called it “chantilly”. It should be noted that chantilly is French for whipped cream, which it was not, but, apparently, she thought that dumb Americans wouldn’t know what clotted cream was, and chantilly sounded upscale. That was followed by tea with milk on the side - said milk must’ve stayed in the milk jug for at least a day, as it started forming a fat layer. The macaroons were dry - frozen stuff from Trader Joe’s tastes a lot better, etc. Shall I continue? One sentence summarizes it all. A ripoff.
% of us went to Tavola for dinner, and shared a number of dishes. Service was very good and all of the dishes were excellent - very flavourful was the first impression. Three different pastas, brussels sprouts (super!), chicken, char, kale salad(can kale be that good?), toffee pudding, positano - each dish had it's own particular and excellent flavour. Maybe it's just my advanced age, but I found the restaurant particularly noisy, so conversation with anyone not beside you was difficult. The food makes it worth going back (it is the 'go to' for the local couple we were with).
I dont usually give reviews but feel like this great little restaurant deserves one. I'm staying at the hotel next door so I thought I'd give Italia Bella a try on the recommendation of the hotel staff. I'm so glad I did. The staff was very welcoming and sat me at a quiet table by the window. I wasn't too busy so I didnt have to worry about covid spacing. Comfortable chairs, nice italian music(not too loud) and smelled fantastic. It was hard to decide but eventually I took the waitress advice and ordered the bruschetta to start. Followed but the baked Gnocchi gorgonzola. I was not disappointed. The bruschetta came on homemade bread that was to die for. Large portion also. The main course of Gnocchi was even better. I'm not joking. You have to try this place out. Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Price was amazing. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Vancouver. Thanks for a great meal Italia Bella.
It was yet another fantastic dining experience here. I went here with my work team from TO. They asked how I found this place and replied that this is my “go-to anniversary” restaurant. We started off with drinks and their special negroni with sun-dried tomato might sound weird but was absolutely incredible. For appetizers, we ordered their cheese and charcuterie (great but not exceptional). I reserve the exceptional compliments for their prosciutto wrapped sea scallops with duck risotto. I remember having this before and this was the highlight of my previous meal. We ordered this for the 5 of us (2 orders plus + 1 extra scallop) and it was exactly how I remember it. It is a bit pricey but I assure you, it was absolutely worth it. For our main, I had the ling cod which was very good. It was cooked well but I think it needed just a bit more flavour. Somebody ordered the pork belly and that... was.... awesome. I will need to order that next time! For dessert, we ordered the panna cotta... another home run. All in all, another fantastic dining experience with great service. Brix&Mortar, until we meet again.
... we could have believed we were back in Italy at a neighbourhood restaurant somewhere. We were here because it's walking distance to Stanley Park, where we were seeing "Mama Mia" at Theatre Under the Stars (good young performers, but weak casting in the older roles). Because of the theatre date, we got here early enough to get one of the coveted tables on the patio; the interior looked very cosy, so we'll try to come back again in the cooler weather. Anyway, we couldn't have been happier. We shared some anchovies on boiled eggs, then an order of crostini (3 to a plate, and we could mix-and-match), then the pasta special, as well as some nice wines by the glass. Everything was good, and our servant was very pleasant and quietly competent. As much as we enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding, it seemed an odd choice for an Italian-ish restaurant, as did the omission of tiramisu from the dessert menu. Still, that's a pretty mild complaint for such an overall positive experience.

Amazing food and friendly staff. We celebrated our anniversary there for the second year in a row. However, we went on a Friday night and the place was unfortunately very loud. Conversation was difficult.

I found this place just in time—my phone was almost dead! The staff were incredibly kind and seated me at the bar so I could charge it. While my phone powered up, I enjoyed a delicious “Criminale” pizza that absolutely hit the spot. The surprise drink and the lovely music made the whole experience truly special. Definitely a one-of-a-kind visit—I’ll be back!

The atmosphere was nice. Had to walk up two levels of stairs, but was greeted by hostess. Asked to sit at bar as I was solo. The environment was loud, with people laughing and talking and with the overhead music. I was watching media on my iPhone which was hard to hear because of all the noise. When some blonde lady tapped me on my shoulder and rudely said we can hear your phone. The bar was packed with a couple on both sides of me didn’t seem to mind. The Bartenders didn’t seem to mind or I’m sure they would have politely asked me to lower or turn my phone off. Ordered the Baseball steak with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Potatoes good. Vegetables could have been more. The steak says it’s cooked medium rare or less. Ordered medium rare it came more medium. Didn’t resemble a baseball steak at all.

Fun atmosphere with live music, but the best was the food. The seafood tasted fresh and well seasoned and the Mediterranean dishes that we ordered were also very good. The service was excellent, our waitress Jackie, was very friendly and helpful. We didn't have reservations but the wait time was short. We enjoyed our dinner very much.
