Top complaints

  • 2 nights into a 5 night stay, and confident leaving a 5 star review. Great layout (1 bedroom suite), amazing location walking distance from anything you could ever need. Yes, the AC unit is loud but it drowns out busy street noise. Staff have been excellent, helping us with every request, including helping our son when the patio door came off the tracks and he was stuck out on the balcony! šŸ˜‚ (0.0%)
  • 2 stars. first time at chipotle and the workers were to fast and gave me beans when i didn’t want them. the drink machine had no ice so all the drinks were warm. the food was spicy and i asked for the no spice. the store was very loud and the tables were not cleaned well. would not recommend (0.0%)
  • A 5 star hotel wouldn’t rent out the room next to their check-in area to a club making it impossible to hear the front desk staff. They also couldn’t hear what I was saying. We stayed 3 levels above the check-in level (where the club is) and we could still hear the music. Loud base all night with drunk people in the elevators and lobby. (0.0%)

Top praises

  • 10/10 across the board. Service, food, drinks, music, views - this place has it all. (0.0%)
  • 7 ladies celebrating birthday of a cousin. Great choice for a restaurant to celebrate. We did the tasting menu which was excellent. Just the right amount of food properly phased serving. Brian our server is attentive and funny. Loved the live music we got to sing along with the performer. (0.0%)
  • A 1 star hotel for a 5 star price. Rooms are unbelievably small and in poor condition but they seem to be reasonably clean. Window had a view of concrete wall. It was quiet. (0.0%)

  • The hotel is 3* and we found it adequate. The beds were comfortable with clean sheets though better if ironed. The room was clean with plenty of hot water and decent towels. The staff were pleasant and helpful. On checking in, we were told to be careful going out at night as the area had a lot of homeless. I personally didn't find them to be a problem though heartbreaking. The reason for a 3* review rather than a deserved 4*, was the noise outside. Non-stop music and shouting til about 3am. Then came the garbage trucks! Not the hotel's fault but it did detract from my stay. On the plus side, the location is within walking distance to most attractions. If you can sleep through loud noises, then it's a great place. (0.0%)
  • $100 deposit on old fashioned keys!! Thin walls are thin and the nightclub is loud The staff smoke just past the door so a pleasant walk into the establishment through their smoke One set of towels in our room for 2 Blinds with light coming from all 4 sides in window but no curtains Not recommended! • % of us went to Tavola for dinner, and shared a number of dishes. Service was very good and all of the dishes were excellent - very flavourful was the first impression. Three different pastas, brussels sprouts (super!), chicken, char, kale salad(can kale be that good?), toffee pudding, positano - each dish had it's own particular and excellent flavour. Maybe it's just my advanced age, but I found the restaurant particularly noisy, so conversation with anyone not beside you was difficult. The food makes it worth going back (it is the 'go to' for the local couple we were with). (0.0%)

Top praises

  • 'Very clean, lovely room. Beautiful and beautifully quiet. Friendly and very helpful Reception staff, a short walk away or a quick room-phone call away - and available "24/7". 'Very reasonable price, on a picturesque campus. (0.0%)
  • + cheap good location quiet can leave 2 days your bagg at the reception if you leave - In a week i've never see anyone cleaning the property, even the rooms Some of the staff are really unfriendly. They ask you to go on a private room, if you wanna extend your stay after a week. The cleaning staff ask you to leave your bedroom when they make a bed, no matter what you're doing or sleeping..."for their privacy" haha kitchen is just 1 elec stove, really not done to cook. really small 4 bedorm, quiet humid (0.0%)
  • ... we could have believed we were back in Italy at a neighbourhood restaurant somewhere. We were here because it's walking distance to Stanley Park, where we were seeing "Mama Mia" at Theatre Under the Stars (good young performers, but weak casting in the older roles). Because of the theatre date, we got here early enough to get one of the coveted tables on the patio; the interior looked very cosy, so we'll try to come back again in the cooler weather. Anyway, we couldn't have been happier. We shared some anchovies on boiled eggs, then an order of crostini (3 to a plate, and we could mix-and-match), then the pasta special, as well as some nice wines by the glass. Everything was good, and our servant was very pleasant and quietly competent. As much as we enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding, it seemed an odd choice for an Italian-ish restaurant, as did the omission of tiramisu from the dessert menu. Still, that's a pretty mild complaint for such an overall positive experience. (0.0%)

"Amazing food and friendly staff. We celebrated our anniversary there for the second year in a row. However, we went on a Friday night and the place was unfortunately very loud. Conversation was difficult."

"I found this place just in time—my phone was almost dead! The staff were incredibly kind and seated me at the bar so I could charge it. While my phone powered up, I enjoyed a delicious ā€œCriminaleā€ pizza that absolutely hit the spot. The surprise drink and the lovely music made the whole experience truly special. Definitely a one-of-a-kind visit—I’ll be back!"

"The atmosphere was nice. Had to walk up two levels of stairs, but was greeted by hostess. Asked to sit at bar as I was solo. The environment was loud, with people laughing and talking and with the overhead music. I was watching media on my iPhone which was hard to hear because of all the noise. When some blonde lady tapped me on my shoulder and rudely said we can hear your phone. The bar was packed with a couple on both sides of me didn’t seem to mind. The Bartenders didn’t seem to mind or I’m sure they would have politely asked me to lower or turn my phone off. Ordered the Baseball steak with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Potatoes good. Vegetables could have been more. The steak says it’s cooked medium rare or less. Ordered medium rare it came more medium. Didn’t resemble a baseball steak at all."

Tripadvisor Ā· Praise quote

"The bed and pillows were quite comfortable and the room was very clean. The bathroom products were nice. The rooms are stylish, although the floor to ceiling windows in our room were in the bathroom. There was a shade with a gap on either side - I was a bit self-conscious about the Starbucks across the street! There is a small bar downstairs which plays loud club music which is piped into the lobby and elevators. I requested a 6th floor room as some other reviewers complained about noise from the bar and gym downstairs. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The staff were all completely lovely. The location is walkable to BC Place and several restaurants."
