As many other reviewers have mentioned, this hotel is old. But the cons outweighed the pros for us. I don’t plan to come back here. These were the issues we had with our room: - wifi sporadic and unpredictable - Dishwasher doesn’t work half the time - One of the kitchen outlets didn’t work - We had two bed rooms two bathrooms. One of the showers was ridiculously hard to adjust the temperature. It was either burning hot or too cold. Everyone in our hotel room ended up using the other shower. - Our bedroom didn’t have outlets close to the bed, therefore we charged our phone by the door and had to physically get out of bed to turn off our iPhone alarms. - You really cannot put the room key in the same pocket as your phone or credit cards. Do it once and your key is no good. - There is a fireplace, but they only let you put the duraflame type of log in there for safety reasons. That log doesn’t get super hot, so I don’t see much value in using the fireplace (unless you really want the visual effect…?). Only good things: - dogs allowed - Room is old but clean - Had most of the appliances we needed and gave us extra bowls when we asked - Location is nice (but no good views from our room).
First off, I should say hats off to the staff. They were truly professional and friendly. I would also say that the hotel provides good value for money, and it with an easy hop on the bus to downtown Vancouver. The room was decent, but I thought the room needed ventilation, and with no windows that can open to let in fresh air, I let the bathroom fan run overnight to pull in air (at least I thought that may pull in air through the tiny gaps under the doors). My beef however is with the Internet. In the five days that I stayed there, the internet never worked. I think the dial-up which I had in the 90s were better. I ended up resorting to use data on my phone to create hotspots. I asked at the front-desk, and they said it is due to the number of guests staying at the hotel. However, I found the internet never to work - regardless of the time of the day, and me trying to use if in odd hours of the night (had some jet lag). The second pain point was getting receipts so that I could expense my business trip. I had two consecutive bookings, and on checkout, their systems did not work. So they said they would email me my receipt. I got the receipt for one of the stays, but have called in multiple times for the remaining one. They had systems issues again. Still waiting, and I think I may need to keep on calling till I have that sorted out. So while I think the location is great, it provides an affordable stay in Vancouver, the Internet and getting my receipts has been a hassle factor that I would have preferred not to deal with.
For what they charge per night, I was certainly expecting more. The suite we rented was just ok. I have stayed in much nicer rooms for much less. I suppose they can get away with it because they are right in the core of Vancouver. They charge for wifi ($14.50 a day).. that was very surprising considering the amount we payed already and the fact that almost everywhere else offers it free.... get with it. Parking was an additional $48 bucks per day. Again, I guess they can get away with that because of their location. I definitely won’t be staying here again and unfortunately don’t think I’ll be recommending it to anyone.
A little further from the city than I would have liked, but great for the price. The average nightly rate was about C$440 for 5 nights in July and the room came with everything we needed. We spent the first night in a double queen that came with a kitchenette (two-seater table, hot plate, dishes) and the rest of the stay was in a king room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room had air conditioning and a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The lounge downstairs had an automatic espresso maker and bottle filler, the espresso was pretty good and free which makes it great. The street noise is loud, but the room was relatively quiet; there's a courtyard in the middle with relaxing splashing water fountains and the wifi was super fast. The general manager, Nur, was super nice and very helpful in the room change process. Free parking available in a lot in front of the entrance.
A remodeled old hotel downtown Vancouver. Good price, great service. A block from the market, which you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with general grocery items! The beds were comfortable, the shower was really cool. You do have to push a small button under the knob to get the hot water, but lots of pressure. Very clean rooms. Lots of channels on the tele. 4 blocks to the Vancouver Convention Center, tons of restaurants within walking distance. Most were affordable. The Italian restaurant connected to the hotel was way too pricy for me, so I did not eat there, but it looked nice.
Amazing location, just minutes from both Rogers Arena & BC Place. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk to either Expo or Millennium line Skytrains so super easy to get to pretty much anywhere in Vancouver. Staff was great, super helpful and friendly on check-in. My room was actually available well before check-in time (check in at 4, I was there around 1:30-2PMish), which given I arrived in Vancouver early was amazing. General vibe of the place is an upscale feel. There's a Moxies right next door and the Shark Club around the corner with many other similar options within a block. My room though was tiny & really basic. Wifi was fine (occasionally my laptop took a sec to reconnect, but no notable issues otherwise). TV was terrible, it's a Samsung smart TV so looked nice enough & good size, but wasn't connected to the network so I couldn't cast anything to it. It's in a recessed mount, so couldn't plug in a HDMI cable to use my own device instead. So really only basic cable and nothing else. View was nonexistent as I was on the 2nd floor so all I could see out my single window was a glimpse of BC Place in the distance (see photo). Other amenities in the room were bar fridge, microwave, tiny coffee maker. No corkscrew, wine glasses, etc, just a couple plastic cups. Maybe was just the room I happened to be in (standard queen room south tower), but overall was little disappointed with the room. Not particularly bad, but very very basic and felt a little dim and cramped. Good place to stay if solo travelling, or want to stay close to the arena to walk to go see the Canucks or Lions.
$250 cash deposit required because of debit card My company paid for 3 nights in advance and when I showed up, I was asked for $250 deposit (why?, I asked - you cant even bill anything to your room?). I only had my debit card as the room was prepaid, and then I was told they could not bill the debit card for the deposit. So they sent me out on the streets at 12:30 am to get $250 cash out of an ATM machine. This was immediate "3 strikes and you're out for me". I did stay here for my purchased three days but won't return. It's too bad this ruined it for me - even though the room is as small as a dog kennel, the shoddy workmanship on the floors, and there is no real TV ("Smart TV" means "no TV except what you can find to stream on our slow 802.11g wifi network being shared by 20 people"), I was prepared to say the Manager was super-nice, and my meeting was at TSK, and you couldn't find a closer location (though the Chelsea is one block further and has no such debit card nonsense). But the cash deposit thing forever poisoned me on the place. If you do stay here, try the bubble-tea place across the street - they have really good Korean food cheap.
2 elevators were always broken and out of service. Only 2 were working but had to wait an average of 5-10minutes everytime we needed to use the elevator. Wifi is never fast average speed was 3 Mbps. If you wanted to do a video call, impossible. Youtube and Netflix was painful to watch because of the lack of internet speed. Since the hotel is close to the hospital ambulance sirens on for 24x7.
3 days business stay We had made a reservation for a company. It had been specified that the card used to make the reservation (business card) would not be the one presented at check-in (personnal card) and that payment would have to be taken from the card used to make the reservation. We were told there would be no problem. At check-in, no one told me anything about this, and it was only the day before departure that I realized that payment had been taken from the check-in credit card instead of the reservation card. I had not been warned at all! You can't take money from your customers' credit cards without telling them! The person present at check-in should have warned me. It was also very hot in the rooms. We didn't know that the TV had to be paid for and the Wi-Fi service is too weak. But it is clean, breakfast is good and the airport shuttle is punctual.
100% would recommend this hotel to someone wanting a short stay in Vancouver city. The staff and service are exceptional always catering to the guests needs. Our room each day was serviced beautifully, such an amazing house keeping team. The living room restaurant next door connected with the hotel is amazing too they have happy hour every day , live trivia nights and gorgeous tapas and dinner food options. The staff there are always very lovely. If I ever return to Vancouver I will 100% be staying here! Regards Lexie beauchamp
5 mins walk from CN Tower I stayed 4 nights in the Marriott Residence Inn in a king studio. Check in was very quick. My room was on the 14th floor, the view from the room was not great as it faced the electrical plant. The room was very spacious with a small kitchen area of a microwave, hob, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. There was a sofa, a couple of desks and large TV. The room was very clean but dated. On the last night the room was never cleaned. Breakfast was ok, thought there might be more choice as it’s such a large hotel. Wifi was fast. The location was excellent, 5 min walk to CN about 15 mins to Union station which is great for getting the UP to and from the airport. Closest metro is St Andrew’s. Overall my stay was comfortable, however felt the room was very overpriced.
A basic 3 star hotel that is clean and tidy, but no frills. Everything worked (tv, wifi, AC, safe etc …). The crew were super friendly and helpful. There’s no food here, but they do provide a complimentary evening cocktail and snacks. This place is bang in the middle of downtown, so is super convenient for most Vancouver attractions. It has limited on site parking too. The room rate is steep for the 3 star accommodation but is consistent with other central Vancouver hotel prices. As your stay progresses, you fully appreciate the convenience of The Burrand’s prime city location.

I phoned yesterday to see if I could use my visa debit for a room deposit as I was unexpectedly staying the night in town and didn't have my credit cards with me. The woman said no we don't do that. I used it at the Whistler location before so I phoned the Whistler location to confirm if it was ok with them. They said Yes, TD cards we can do that with. However Whistler didn't have any rooms available so I called this location back and explained the situation and asked if they're connected to the Whistler location. The woman on the phone told me no and it wouldn't work. I am now looking online though and it seems as though they are connected so I'm not sure why I was lied to? I was really hoping to stay the night it's a shame it didn't work out.

This hotel location is perfectly located in downtown for attending any event at BC place, Rogers Arena or other downtown central activities. Stayed here for a business conference event this week but have used their paid parking lot several times over the years for attending events nearby and at the Shark Club and Moxie's in the building. The best part of this hotel after the overall location is that Shark Club, great experience always. It had been years since I have been down but it was even better than I remembered. Lively, great service, and good food. The hotel room itself was small but cozy with everything you need done pretty well. My only complaints would be the clothing iron / stand setup being awkwardly assembled with a piece of foam that kept falling off during use. The washroom sink was so tiny it's very difficult to use without splashing water on the floor and the TV isn't synced to internet so it kept giving an error that you couldn't cast from your phone, use Netflix, and the only live TV option was an audio only channel. This feedback aside I would definitely stay here again and for the prime location it's a decent value too. I had a standard room for the 1 night business event but perhaps an upgrade to a suite would solve some of these pain points.

WORST HOTEL STAY IN MY LIFE ☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5 This was, without question, one of the worst hotel stays I have experienced. From the moment we entered the room, there was a strong unpleasant odor. The room smelled stale and unclean, and the smell persisted throughout our stay. The adjoining-room door was particularly concerning. Not only did it allow significant noise transfer between rooms, but it did not feel secure and appeared poorly sealed. We could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring room, and odors seemed to travel freely through the connecting door. As a result, we felt that both our privacy and comfort were compromised. The condition of the room left much to be desired. The room itself felt worn and poorly maintained. The chairs in the lobby were visibly stained to the point that I asked my husband not to sit on it because it appeared unsanitary. The bedding was equally disappointing. We booked a king-size room for two adults and were provided with only three pillows. The pillows were extremely small—honestly smaller than some of the throw cushions on my living room couch—and offered little comfort or support. For a king-size bed, the pillow arrangement and quality were entirely inadequate. To make matters worse, despite smoking only outside and responsibly disposing of cigarette butts afterward, I was later accused of smoking inside the room and had my security deposit withheld. I have disputed this allegation and provided evidence supporting my position. The hotel was aware that I was in Toronto for a cardiac procedure. Within approximately an hour of being discharged from heart surgery, I was contacted regarding the alleged smoking violation and security deposit dispute. Given my medical condition and immediate post-operative recovery, I found the interaction unnecessarily stressful and upsetting at a time when my focus should have been on recovery. While I understand that hotels must enforce their policies, I was disappointed by the manner and timing of the communication, particularly when I was actively recovering from a medical procedure I understand that not every hotel is a luxury property, and my expectations were reasonable. However, I do expect a clean room, functional and secure accommodations, adequate bedding, and fair treatment. Unfortunately, this property failed to meet even those basic standards. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

Great location in the heart of Toronto I stayed at the Sheraton Centre Toronto in June 2026 during a business trip, and it reaffirmed why it remains one of the most reliable hotels in the downtown core. With an unbeatable location, solid amenities, and a layout that works exceptionally well for business travelers, it delivers exactly what you need when your schedule is packed. The hotel’s location is one of its strongest assets. Sitting directly across from Nathan Phillips Square, it places you within walking distance of the Financial District, the Eaton Centre, Queen Street, and countless restaurants and cafés. Transit access is excellent — Queen and Osgoode subway stations are both nearby — and the PATH network runs right beneath the hotel, making it easy to move around the city regardless of weather. This is a large, high‑traffic property, but it’s run with impressive efficiency. The lobby is always active, yet never chaotic. Conference groups, business travelers, and tourists all move through smoothly. The public spaces are modern and well‑maintained, and the indoor/outdoor pool remains a standout feature — a rare perk for a downtown Toronto hotel. Experience makes a difference here, because room location matters. The Central Tower continues to be the best choice — rooms feel more updated, quieter, and better suited for business stays. My room this time offered a fantastic view of the CN Tower, a reminder that you’re right in the heart of Toronto’s skyline. Waking up to that view adds a little energy to the start of a workday. On previous stays, I’ve also had rooms overlooking the City of Toronto building, and that view is equally impressive — a sweeping, architectural perspective of Nathan Phillips Square and the surrounding civic buildings. Both sides offer memorable vantage points; it just depends on what kind of skyline you prefer. One important tip: avoid rooms located near service doors. These doors open and close frequently, and the noise can be loud enough to wake you, especially early in the morning. Once you’re away from those service areas, the rooms are significantly more peaceful. Overall, the rooms deliver what a business traveler needs: a comfortable bed, a functional workspace, strong Wi‑Fi, and views that make the stay feel distinctly Toronto.
