  • **** Food: As other diners had reported the uneven volume of salt in many dishes baffled. Add to that round of reports the amount of spirit in at least one drink. Hot toddy was fabulous so long as its temperature stayed hot; then its vermouth strangled the fungi- and filiform. Saltless beef tallow fries let the diner wish for tableside salt and pepper. But escargot paired with apple cider or water was best even though still quite mild. But then again, wonderfully tender yet terribly, terribly, terribly salty beef bourguignon went way past hearty. Was its super salty taste due to too much reduction? Its sauce wasn't thick so I question that afterthought. Moving on, desserts were fine and included a tall French toast and ice creams. ***** Service: Best in ages and also fun. Jared Leto may have greeted us when we entered. Just kidding! The fellow looked like him in a dim entryway which was more _The Matrix_ than _Tron: Ares._ **** Atmosphere: Dim as previously noted and quite comfortable even though loud music carried heavy bass. (Randolph St, Restaurant Row's Muzak/Pandora/Spotify volume levels just didn't suit this much-classier site.) There were diners aplenty at this location in the 130-year-old Chicago landmark Monadnock Building and across from/near the Union League Club. Now if this eatery could make its cuisine more like G Cuisance's former Kiki's Bistro on N Franklin St.... (0.0%)
  • 01/09/2026 The expectation surrounding a visit to this restaurant turned out to be somewhat frustrating, as several details prevented it from becoming what I would consider a truly great culinary experience. Food: The products are of good quality, but many dishes were overcooked. The ham croquettes fell far short of the standard one would expect, while the ceviche deserves special mention for its excellent balance of acidity. Service: Having the server come to the table every ten minutes to ask if everything is fine is not appropriate for a restaurant of this level. True professionalism means knowing how to read the table and provide attentive service without constant interruptions. Ambience: The décor is well executed, with an elegant yet understated entrance. A well-dressed clientele creates a welcoming atmosphere; however, the music volume is excessively loud and detracts from the overall experience. Conclusion: This restaurant does not make it onto my list of favorites for now, though I remain open to returning in the future. I believe they have the potential to offer a much better experience to their guests. (0.0%)
  • 3 plates of dozen oysters (happy hours 1.25 local & 2.25 canadian ) says it all. Mushroom fried rice is good so as the yuzu shrimp. Can skip the rice paper quesadilla and cod cakes. I would love to like this place but it gets so loud ~ ~ ~ ! (0.0%)

  • -Great choice of music -Old fashioned wood bar and table combo create very nice setting -Wish they could've accommodated a sauce substitution for the gnocci, but its understandable -Pork cutlets very good (0.0%)

  • You.must.eat.here. First, let’s get this out of the way. If you are looking for a romantic and intimate place, you will have to go elsewhere. This place is LOUD. With crowded seating, I was a part of three different conservations and it wasn’t pleasant. I’d recommend sitting at the end of the bar to minimize the noise pollution. And the drinks. If you are looking for stellar mixologist-inventions, this again, is not your place. Ok. Now that’s out of the way. I’ll say it again. EAT. HERE. We had the dried porcini donuts, chicken liver banh mi, the aged beef wonton, tonnarelli sea urchin (with their in-house made gluten free pasta) and the steak. It was all exceptional (minus the pasta which was good but not exceptional). This is my most memorable meal all year, by far. What sticks out to me is that everything was seasoned perfectly and the flavors were pleasantly vibrant. The two things that REALLY stuck out were the donuts and banh mi. They both were extraordinary and are two small bite plates that you should definitely order. I am looking forward to returning again and again. (0.0%)
  • "Are we at Per Se or are we at Applebee's?" This was the question on our minds as we ate dinner. Buyer beware - do not come to Per Se if you are expecting a refined and elegant dining experience. Per Se has no expected standards of attire and behavior being enforced confirmed by its own maitre d Alex Pimentel. This failure of the purported three Michelin star institution greatly reduced the quality and enjoyment of our experience and was far below what we have experienced in the past at Per Se or other three Michelin star restaurants. One table in our direct view had two very old men with two teenaged-looking girls. One girl was wearing sweatpants, a crop top, and flip flops. The other girl was wearing a sweatshirt and sneakers. One of the old men had a little black puppy with him and Per Se allowed the puppy to run around the floor of the dining room throughout the dinner. Another table next to us was obnoxiously loud throughout the evening, taking over the space and taking away from everyone else's enjoyment. It was clear from the circus around us that Per Se has no standards for guest attire or behavior and does not care about guest experience at all. When I wrote to the restaurant after our dinner to share our feedback, the maitre d Alex Pimentel asked me to call him to talk. After playing phone tag a couple times, we were finally able to connect. Alex began the phone conversation by flippantly stating "I understand you had a problem with some guests who weren't dressed as nicely as you would have liked?" Wow. This is the guy they put in charge of guest relations? What a great attitude for the job. Alex ended up wasting 20 minutes of my time by making up excuses for every single aspect of our underwhelming dining experience. According to Alex: 1) Per Se does not have a dress code for women, only for men. Women can apparently dine in a string bikini and flip flops. Alex says: "Per Se gets people from all walks of life and unfortunately we really only enforce a dress code for men." 2) Alex said the old men were hotel guests and that they were dining with their "nieces or daughters." I told him that we could not care less where the old men were lodging or the nature of their relationship with the teenaged girls, but that the young women should at the very least not be wearing sweatpants, crop tops, flip flops, sweatshirts, and sneakers. Alex once again reiterated that there is no dress code for women. 3) Alex could not come up with an excuse for the puppy running around. 4) Alex said that if we were disappointed at any point in the evening with our experience, the burden was on us to try to create the experience we want. Alex said we should have complained about the other guests (all seated within earshot) and we may have been reseated space permitting. So a three Michelin star restaurant is putting the onus on its guests to create a fine dining experience. Why would it be on guests to make sure Per Se enforces basic standards of attire and behavior of other guests? When Per Se allows a circus in its dining room, Per Se is not going after a three Michelin star experience. When the maitre d tells guests that it is actually their burden and responsibility to create a pleasant and enjoyable experience, there is something terribly wrong with the training and culture at Per Se. 5) Food: lobster was extremely chewy like bubblegum. The chicken was bland and a bit rubbery. Loved the crispy skin on the bass. Lamb was just lamb, but on the tougher side. The wagyu was unremarkable. Black truffle pasta was delicious with a generous shaving of truffles. 6) Service: star is for Maris who was fantastic and we appreciated her excellent service and professionalism. Maris seemed to be the only one we encountered at Per Se who was aware that the restaurant is supposed to provide a three Michelin star experience. The wine pairing was $350 and the sommelier was perfunctory and inattentive. Alex concluded our phone conversation with an underwhelming, "well in the future please reach out to me to coordinate your next visit to Per Se." He didn't even offer a genuine apology without excuses or any gesture of good will from the restaurant. Will we be coming back to Per Se after this experience and Alex's response to our feedback? As Randy Jackson once eloquently stated, "Yeah that's gonna be a no from me, dawg." (0.0%)
  • $220 for 2 burgers, a salad of lettuce and bread and a plate of pasta and 4 watered beers. Very loud volume. Tourist scam (0.0%)

  • My husband and I had our anniversary dinner at Bavette's. I loved the ambience - dimly lit and we had a quiet booth. He started with oysters, which he liked a lot. We shared the small order of sourdough bread - thick, warm slices that were so good. I had the miso glazed black cod, which normally I love, but it was swimming in broth, so there was no crispness, and I didn't really enjoy it (my husband ate most of it, but we didn't finish it). He had the ribeye, which he enjoyed. We also shared a side of Brussels Sprouts, which I loved (took home the leftovers) and a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar, which was great (took home the leftovers of that, too). We were also given a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was good (even though we were so full, we made some room). Our server was attentive and friendly. Overall great, just didn't love the preparation of the cod. (0.0%)
  • 11/19/22. Pre-pandemic and again now, we search for Manhattan restaurants where the food is well prepared and delicious, and the ambience is calm, lovely, & QUIET. As we found NOCELLO through reviews on Trip advisor, I am now writing to thank those who pointed us there, and add our praise. I also want to thank the owner, Constantino, who personally added to our enjoyment of the evening. (0.0%)
  • 1st time visit. We're staying at Planet Hollywood for our 33rd anniversary and was looking for somewhere for dinner. We booked our stay ahead of time and found out about Steak House. Made our reservations ahead of time. Love the old school vibe of the place as well as the music. It was a little pricey but well worth it. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend. (0.0%)

"Lovely hotel. Beautifully manicured garden! Friendly staff, friendly staff. They do everything with a smile. Nice balcony, but unfortunately you can't sit there quietly. Terribly loud music by the heated pool, which could be heard all over the grounds. Nice beach place. Unfortunately no wine, only with dinner. At Aurora restaurant from 1 pm a glass of wine with dinner. A bottom of lukewarm white wine in a “shot glass”. Even at the lobby bar lukewarm white wine in a shot glass. Otherwise a wonderful stay!"

"Just did a 1 week stay and loved everything about this hotel. We did the king bed with a sofa bed, which was perfect for our party of three adults. The room was very spacious and very clean. I loved having the desk area to plan out our adventures for the next day each night. We were well taken care of the whole week and loved the nightly visits to see if we needed anything and to deliver chocolate. I can’t say enough good things about everyone who works there. Always friendly when we were coming and going. We really miss them! We were on the 26th floor and if it had been New Year’s Eve when it would’ve been able to see the ball from our room. Still pretty cool to be able to see the area though. They have a great restaurant and bar on the first floor. Just a few steps away as a Paris baguette where we enjoyed tea and pastries pretty frequently. There is also a Whole Foods right there in the event you needed to get a few groceries. The location couldn’t be better! Close to Times Square and so many other must see attractions, especially broadway shows. Easy access to subway and bus lines to get to attractions further away. I thought it was pretty quiet. We never heard any of our neighbors on our floor and I didn’t notice any traffic noise downstairs. LUMA is an excellent hotel with amazing staff!"
