I strongly recommend staying away from this venue. My experiences with the staff at Sugar and Tea Room were extremely disappointing, and it seems clear that something in their management or operations has changed. This may explain why fewer classy, self-respecting patrons appear to be attending compared to the past. I used to visit these venues frequently, but on one occasion I was abruptly escorted out without any explanation. I later heard from others that if you are not continuously purchasing drinks, staff may single you out and ask you to leave. I am not a heavy drinker, but had I been treated with basic respect, I would have gladly spent full evenings there enjoying dinner and supporting the business. On previous visits, security staff would oddly sit next to me and ask if I was “okay,” as if there were an issue when there clearly wasn’t. On another occasion, I was simply told to leave with no explanation whatsoever. I am a well-dressed, respectful, and well-groomed individual, and the only apparent reason for this treatment seemed to be that I was not repeatedly purchasing overpriced drinks or reserving a table. Look out for a short mini version of Jackie Chan looking staff who goes around taking notes and passing the message to security. Staff constantly patrol and watch guests throughout the venue, which creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and discourages patrons from ordering at their own pace. Instead of feeling relaxed and welcomed, I felt pressured and unwelcome. Additionally, having previously worked closely with city code compliance, I noticed that the hallway connecting Sugar and Tea Room appears far too narrow during their over-capacity weekend nights. In the event of an emergency, this could potentially present a serious fire hazard. I am unsure whether the city or fire department is aware of this issue. I am a reasonable and respectful person, and I would not have posted this review had management simply provided an explanation or apology after I reached out privately. I did receive an initial response saying they would follow up, but no further communication ever came. Brickell now offers many better options, and I have been treated far more professionally at other venues. Until I receive a sincere apology and a genuine welcome back, I see no reason to remove this review or return.

Husband and I went to this location in Orlando over the summer, which the service kinda sucked, and he had a hard time getting any meats. We decided to go back one more time on Dec 23rd and give them another chance. Big mistake. As he got towards the end of his meal, he noticed the meat smelled off and decided to stop eating. It wasn’t long after that he started feeling sick, but we thought maybe he was dehydrated. Later that night he ended up getting violently sick. We had only ate one time that day and it was at Fogo. After he immediately felt better. Fogo served meat that was expired. He left a review on yelp and google, as anyone would do after such an experience, and Fogo deleted them. Beware…they’re hiding their bad reviews and do not care that they’ve made people sick. For the price you have to pay for their full experience, it’s a slap in the face. I will check back for my review and if it’s deleted, I’ll repost it til it stays.
$1,070 Surprise Charge... Be Careful Be very cautious staying here...my experience resulted in two separate $500 smoking fees ($1,070 with tax) without any prior notice. We did not smoke in the room or anywhere on the property. We are lifelong non-smokers and are even willing to provide medical history if necessary. From what I’ve learned, the hotel solely relies on REST air quality sensors to issue these charges. These sensors can be triggered by normal activities, even something like a hair dryer. Despite that, there was no room inspection, no physical evidence, no reported odor, and no communication during our stay, even though the system is designed to alert staff in real-time. I attempted to resolve this with both the hotel and their management company (Highgate), but received inconsistent responses and no resolution. After further research, I found multiple other guests reporting the same mysterious $500 smoking fee just days after check-out. Charging guests over $500 based solely on automated sensor data, with no human verification, and charging twice for what appears to be the same incident is unacceptable. I am still working to have these $1,070 in charges removed. Until then (and even after then), I would strongly reconsider staying here.
$199 bill for dinner for two with two cocktails. Not worth it. Good service but disappointing food. LapuLapu cocktail served in pineapple was $20. Now for dinner-started with kale salad which is green cardboard. Noodles were tasteless and boiled, unpeeled shrimp were served plain in a small bowl. Steak was very fatty and had lots of tough gristle. Don’t like bread pudding but I tried it. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
$260 "Day Room" needs a plumber 25Feb2026 Pro: location; kind and helpful front desk, clean Con: miahotel.com does not list "day room" service which front desk offered me at 4AM when all $147 twin rooms were occupied; bathtub drain in room 661 needs plumbing
1 true American restaurant concept, traditional and picturesque. Good quality food and drink, prices are reasonable considering the reality of Miami. The service could be a little more attentive and genuine, you can see the primacy of wanting to sell but I already think it's a little cultural. On repeat
10/10. Wonderful food even better service with Emilio!

This place is horrible the bartender was so rude he couldn’t hear me and I was loosing my voice so I couldn’t yell so I text on my phone and then I couldn’t hear his response so he screamed at me I was completely sober and the people around me all looked at me like ready for me to go off but as mentioned I was sober and just walked in with my friends so I let it slide. (The drink was also horrible) Then going to the bathroom I went to knock on a door bc I was waiting a long time and the bouncer pushed me again I was sober it wasn’t an aggressive knock. He also grab my friend when she went to look at her self in the mirror. He was so rude and nasty this place sucks!!!! Do not go they don’t deserve your money it’s right and boring I. There anyway only went bc it was open later and up the block from my friends house.

Today Tuesday My friend came first to this restaurant we come mostly on Tuesday. The First server ask my friend to move from the table with a booth bc they needed the table for 5 ppl and we were only two. So my friend responded that we preferred to stay in the table. Now I came around 7 and two other two servers came to the table to tell me the same thing to move cuase there were customers waiting and that were a total of 5 that our table was bigger for 5ppl after we ordered our food and drinks. Then for the third time a lady Andrea came to the table to ask please to move that the was for 5ppl and not two. What the hell is wrong with these ppl I drive far bc the tacos and the place is a place with good atmosphere. I ask one of the server the employee the name of the lady and he said it was the Manager name Andrea. Now she came to my table and told me her name is Eve or Eva on top of bad unprofessional service they lied about her name to tell me please to move. I will continue to come cuase like I said I like the tacos here but hopefully the manager that says she is the owner is not a person with professionalism. She needs to see this is wrong I guess this place is good one but if they continue to move ppl from their table they would loose customers. That lady Eva Andrea try to make the blame on me as a customer bc we did not accepted to move and why she was is she asking if she is really the owner she should just not let us stay and give her table of 5 to her favors visitors. This is not professional and good service bad bad bad

Came before a heat game, what a great experience, the bartender, Robert, was excellent. The chef, Damian was also very attentive and amazing. Great place to visit when you come downtown.
